My cruise control stopped working today and I pulled into a rest stop and check the manual for where the fuse may be. I found none so since I was stopping at Lowe's at Smoky Point I decided to get advise from the Jeep dealer in the area. They told me no fuses but may be relay, switches or wiring. I made a appointment to take it in tomorrow morning but when I left the cruise control started working again. It turns on and off by demand as I want so the switch seems to be working fine. Should I cancel the appointment and get the relay or did someone have a similar problem and found a different fix for it?

I had an experience like this with my 96 grand cherokee. Intermittently, the cruise control would quit working. The clock spring was replaced due to an airbag related recall and it never happened again. Clock spring might be worth a try....I'm not sure what they cost though.

Check the brake light switch on the brake pedal because the brake cancels the cruise.

Years ago I had the same intermittent problem.

I can understand the brake switch canceling the cruise control but this never turned on. No light came on the dash. Clock spring is possible but it now is working like it never broke. I just wonder if someone had the exactly the same problem and what they found.

I had the same problem after I washed the engine. It quit working for a couple of days and then started working again. I remember someone else having this problem after driving in wet conditions, but I could not find the thread. Could your problem be moisture related too?

It has happened to me as well. maybe once every 6 months or so. Also had it quit working when the tow control box shorted out and burnt out the brake lights.

Happened to me a couple of times. I found that the "cancel" button sticks down intermittently if you push one of the button sides, instead of the middle. Acts exactly like you described.
