I'm new to the whole diesel thing. I love these little beasts. However I have a question concerning the fuel filter. I was talking to some guys the other day and they were talking about how important it is to change the fuel filter in there Dodge diesels. They acted like it was even more important than their oil changes. So my question is this. Is this diesel thing where I should schedule regular filter changes when I do my oil changes or am I ok here to change it out after something like 30,000 miles.

I just had my dealer do the 12000 mile service checkup and they didn't mention anything about a fuel filter. Of course I had to make sure they put synthetic oil in as well. The mechanic onsite didn't think that I should put it into it. I had the service manager verify that yes they do recommend synthetic oil.

Thanks

Chris

Check this thread: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?p=29742

Basically just plan to change it at the scheduled interval - should be listed in your manual, I think it's 20k miles. If anything happens before then (most likely water in fuel) you'll get a warning light on the dash telling you to drain the fuel/water separator (sp?).; If you don't get that light, just replace it per the maint. schedule.
