Hi everyone, just got back tonight from Texas. Too pooped and it's too late to go into any details, but from the topic you can guess that the CRD did very well. I'm one happy camper. 512 miles on 17.5 gallons on the last full tank I ran out coming back home, from New Boston TX (20 miles west of Texarkana on I-30) to just east of Nashville TN, all on one tank of Diamond Shamrock I bought in New Boston. For regular #2 dino, that stuff is friggin liquid gold. Only fuel that did better MPG wise was the B20 I filled up on leaving town last week.

I'll fill you in tomorrow, when i can keep my eyes open.

I too have gotten over 500 miles on a single tank. Very impressive huh? How many midsize SUVs can claim that?

I've also got good mileage results from B20. Enough BTUs, and excellent cetane make a good efficient fuel.

I too have made over 500 mile on a tank several times with Shell or Hess purchased in SC. It make one feel warm and green

Do it all the time in the summer (winter not so much). Best I ever did was 520 with the needle even with the 1/4 mark. I think I got 600 once but I usually don't like to let the fuel run that low.

600! Hmm, I haven't tried that yet but good to know that it's possible.
My wife and I do over 500mi's per tank regularly and I've pushed it to 550 before. I think I would really have to baby it to get close to 600 though.

To be honest, I have never paid much attention to how far I've gone on a single tank. I drive 100 miles round trip to work every day, and I usually fill up every four days. I have done 5 days, but was worried about having to prime it back up after running it dry - which I would NEVER EVER NEVEREVER do with the cp3 pump.

I'm doing an experiment mixing 4 oz of Quicksilver TC-W3 and 4 oz of Powerservice silver into the fuel now, rather than just 8 oz of Powerservice. I'm hoping that the btu enhancement of the TC-W3 combined with the cetane enhancement of the Powerservice will increase my mpg considerably.

I've never hit 500, but usually if I'm going any distance I have my camper behind me.

Still I was very happy with my last tank, 477 miles / 25 mpg of all short trips. I only averaged 22 miles per day. Usually that kind of driving kills the fuel economy.

It's nice to only fill up once a month. I hit that goal in last month.

575 was my best fillup. But last weekend my EVIC showed 621 miles to empty for a long time. That was after driving about 100 miles at 35 mpg (EVIC). I think 621 is the highest that the DTE will go, because I kept coming down out of the mountains and mpg increased to 37 very fast, but DTE stayed at 621.

When you guys calculate mpg, do you use the odometer or a gps? I had read somewhere (maybe on here) that the odometer reads a little lower than actual, and the speedometer reads high. I believe the second part, because on a couple trips my co-worker's TomTom would say 56 when the speedo said 60. We never checked the distance. I ask because just earlier this week I went on a little road trip, total 518 mi (by odo) but only made it to 465 mi before the needle was getting too close to E for comfort in that area. Had the tires at 50psi, kept the speed between 60 and 70 (by speedo) all on very flat highways and interstates, very little weight inside, no a/c or other accessory use, no external stuff mounted, mid-60s outside temp. Got 27-and-some-change mpg overall. That's not terrible, but based on what others here have reported I was hoping for a little more. I'm all stock except for SEGR and EHM. Around town I usually see 18-20 driving very gently. I was wondering if you use a calculation method other than odo miles/gallons?

Also, how "low can it go?" By the time I need 18 gallons the needle is at the bottom of the red E square. How much further 'till it starts sucking air? I've never wanted to find out first hand.

I use my GPS to see how far off the odometer is, and use that correction factor in stating miles or mpg.

Your CRD holds 21-22 gallons of fuel when it's full to the brim. Usually when my low fuel light comes on I can only get in about 18 gallons.

I went from New Castle, DE to Charlotte. NC several times 18 gallons. 530/18=29.444444444444444444444444 That is doing 75+ MPH when I can get away with it. :lol:

I counted mile markers for a month and averaged readings from 12 to 60 miles long. I came up with my odometer being 1% low.

If you figure in how may things can change the rolling radius of your tires (OEM tires vs replacment / ambient air temp / tire pressure / vehicle weight including fuel tank / driving speed / etc.) I think that's pretty darn accurate.

That's awesome. Best avg tank I got was 33.3. Also, in response to another post in this thread, I multiply my odometer reading by 1.03 before figuring mpg. I got this figure comparing the odo reading from my other car on the exact same trip to and from work. I have no GPS, but I would like to borrow one for a day or two so I can find out exactly how far work is from my home.

I went 605 miles on about 19.7 gallons going from Tulsa to Leavenworth, back and about 65 miles around town after. Best I can tell I had a tail wind both ways. I calculated about 32 mpg for the highway part.
