Hello to all I have not posted anything in a long time. I am like the relative that only calls went he needs something. Help! I have an 06 CRD and yesterday I put it in 4WD for the first in awhile and now the part time light stays on in 2WD. I know it`s not stuck in 4wd. I am think that the shift sensor or switch maybe is the problem. Anyone on the board had this problem, if so what was the fix. Thanks Rob |

We have a sensor go bad. Not too expensive but a little hard to get to. Only takes about 10 minutes to replace. I couldn't get a wrench on it so I used a large pair of vise grips. |

Mine went bad, and then went good again. I figure next time I go wheeling, it'll go bad again. It seems that there's a defect in that more go bad than seems normal. Given that pretty much everyone who actually puts their Jeeps in 4wd post here. |

Given that pretty much everyone who actually puts their Jeeps in 4wd post here. Makes you wonder how many people who never put their KJ's in 4wd might have a bad sensor. Seems kind of luck-of-the-draw. For instance, am I the only KJ owner who after five years has never had a window regulator go bad? Now that I said that, my window regulator will go bad tomorrow. Better knock on MDF. |

No, my windows are just fine. In fact, when I stupidly locked myself out of my KJ in the middle of nowhere, I couldn't even BREAK the passenger window when hitting it with a 6-foot long steel roadsign post. I don't know if I've got some kind of magic windows, but I know how much power it takes to smash safety glass. This window put up with quite a bit more. Luckily I was able to shim the window and pull up the lock using a reciprocating saw blade that I happened to have with me (was cutting brush with it) and got back into the car. I just wish I'd tried that first. The glass is all scratched up now. ![]() |
