Alright, I'm pretty sure this is something new in my Jeep and could really use some advice.

When moving at low speed while turning (through a parking lot, pulling out of the driveway, etc.), there feels as if there is a non-audible 'thump' coming through the throttle. Usually I get anywhere between 1-3 of these 'thumps' before I straighten out the wheel and they disappear. Occasionally I can feel it in the steering wheel as well. I've noticed this for a couple of weeks now and can say for sure that it is not related to an uneven roadbed... it's something in my car.

I've checked the power steering and the fluid level is at max. Anybody have any bright ideas?

Thanks.

check lug nuts, tires and cv joints for starters.

check the inside of the tire and see if you have a bulge that would hit on a turn - but not going straight.

Could easily be a wheel bearing. The first clue for me is the fact that it stops when u straighten out the steering wheel.

In my experience (3 wheel bearings 3 different vehicles). The common thread was that there was a definite thumping when turning in one or both directions. Does this happen only when first starting out, or is there a thumping every time you turn the wheels far enough?

There are no bulges. I guess I should say that this is an irregular 'thump' feeling. It doesn't happen every time I turn and there is certainly no rhythm to the thumping. Also, it happens no matter if I am turning the wheel to the right or left, as well as while I'm turning it back to center.

ac5501: It happens anytime I turn the wheels far enough when at low speed. I just got back from running some errands and it happened almost every time through the parking lots.
