Changed the oil today after finishing and starting the jeep in the garage I heard a "ticking" noise from under the hood. I didn't have time to check it out today and won't tomorrow, just wondering if anybody has had an exhaust leak and what were the symptoms? I'll have to diagnose and report back, just wanted to seek others thoughts as to possible issues it could be.

Injector noise.

I didn't think of that, however, this is a noise that seems new to me. This isn't one of the noises I remember hearing from the Jeep on a regular basis and I like to think I'm attentive to all the "character" rumble and grumbles it makes. Additionally, it seems to happen at a "slower" timing than the injectors, I'd think if only one was bad or making a noise I would have gotten a CEL by now, no?

I have noise from one or more injectors which I can hear when standing beside the drivers door and the hood is up. I can't hear it with the hood closed or from the front of the engine bay. These kind of injectors just make noise. They have very powerful electromagnets inside them which operate at 72 volts and really beat the plunger back and forth. Chevy tried putting the injectors under the valve covers in the early Duramaxes, which really helped with noise, but they had to replace a lot of engines when the injectors developed fuel leaks and thinned out the oil.

Of course you may have an exhaust leak as well, but on tubbocharged vehicles, an exhaust leak at the manifold has more of a constant whistling sound.
