Hello all. I was just wondering if anyone has performed an intercooler flush with their CRD. If so, were the results worth the effort, and how did you perform the flush. What cleaner did you use etc. I have not performed any type of crankcase vent mod yet, and the jeep has a little over 60k on the odometer. From the amount of oil I have seen inside the CAC hoses, I bet there is a bunch of residue inside the intercooler as well.

Thanks

I did my Home Made Oils Separator mod and recovered about 4 ounces of oil along with 1 TBS of water after over 8000 miles. I now have 45.7K on my CRD.
I list my mods in my signature and the ones I have done have helped, but the ones that have given the biggest bang for the buck are ORM/SEGR, 2 1/2" Cat Back including the restrictive Cat to muffler flange, and lift pump which ended vacuum leaks into the fuel system.
Unless you have enough oil in your inter cooler to get it up into the cross tubes, you will never know. Since the air is filtered, the inter cooler will not clog up with oil soaked dust. I dismiss the asphalt forming on the inner side of the cross tubes as a stretch.
When I had to pull the inter cooler on my Wife's TDI, I positioned it so it would drip out the excess oil.
If and when I have to pull the inter cooler on my CRD, I will do the same, let it drip out the oil and put it back.
There are places that flush them out on OTR trucks, good idea if you need it fixed.
If you have low boost and every thing else checks out, a pressure test and flush would be a good idea.
Of all the Flush tricks, the detergent and garden hose sounded the most cost effective if a flush is needed, like when a turbo trashes.
Otherwise, let me suggest you invest your time and money in other Mods and Upgrades that provide sound isometric exercise to your neck muscles.

Others may be kind enough to correct me but I think a local radiator shop around me can repair, pressure test, steam clean, etc. the inside of radiators, I'd assume they could do intercoolers as well. This is probably a better option then letting the contents drip out, may not get all the oil out.

...than a little oil in my inter cooler.
