Anyone had this code before? I was reading somewhere that on a lot of common rail diesels, this sensor is only used during start-up. Is that the case for the 2.8L? I got this code this morning but it did not return after I cleared it. I am guessing it was just a gremlin. Anything major to worry about? |

Interested to know if it's any more common than the average gremlin. Dan |

I had it a couple of years ago. Cleared it and has not returned. ![]() |

I have never seen it again since I cleared the one time 2 years ago. |

The cam and crank sensors do a handshake during cranking to verify everything is in time, then it releases the injection. Sometimes the phase is slightly out due to wiring voltage fluctuations, hot/cold effects, vibration, etc. and it will flag a code momentarily. As long as the code is not repeating often it is most likely a gremlin. |

Sounds like I should let it be and keep and eye on it. I didn't have them clear it at the parts store. Will the CEL go away on its own after a few engine cycles? Dan |
