The GDE tune looks like a good bet for me as does the new Euro TC but I have a couple of questions for the CRD Team.

I never allowed the F37 (doesn't mean they didn't sneak it in) reprogram and thus the TC replacement and I am still running well after 65K. If I spring for the GDE it seems I should consider the new TC too. The F37 recall should still be in force. If I have them do it now will I get the new TC? Seems like I should do the TC and F37 reprogram first or they will mess up the GDE tune.

I'm pretty sure if u got the GDE tune first and then the F37, the folks at GDE would reflash your ECM for free.

If it were me, I would never let them reflash my TCM. In fact, there are people on this board (myself included) who would gladly swap TCMs before you get the F37.

What is the date of manufacture of your 06? Here is what the December 2006 bulleten says, "... built through November 2, 2006 MAY work but it WAS NOT a recall as some dealers insist.
However when all of this was going on the date that was used to determine elegibilty was November 02, 2005

I wish you luck as mine and a lot of others others got the flash but not the torque converter. It was said on LOST that the pre 11/2/2005 had a TC with a cushion that disintragated and post 11/2/2005 had the older style TC without the cushion that dsintergated. I called Chrysler and without getting into specifics this is what they told me :roll:

Let us know what they tell you. I have a 7/70 maxicare warranty and would be happy to pay the deductable to get it. However it is not necessary as GDE's tune seems to work very well and has eliminated the shudder for those people that had the shudder and got the GDE tune. As you know some with SunCoast TC's still have the shudder :cry:

If I am not mistaken it is the tranny build date that was the issue not the vehicle build date and it was for a span of like Nov 5/05 to mid Feb 06. Mine was certainly in the range. As I recall you always got both the flash and the TC it was the pump you had to wrangle for and generally unsuccessfully. I believe you are correct on the TSB v Recall. But I think what happened is that DC changed it as I am sure the first notice I got called it a TSB and later ones were recalls. The dealer was not happy that I refused it. I had to tell them that I was not refusing it but that I was not prepared to have it done at this time otherwise they were going to make me pay if it failed.

Wasn't that Julian date thing for the filter that didn't have a check valve?? I remember crawing under there to look at mine??

I wonder how far back LOST archives go???

Also the pasted copy of the first page of f37 notice says after November 02, 2005 and not 2006 that's on the PDF copy I have.

Memory sucks Joe but the Julian date on mytranny was about 10 days earlier than the Libby build date. The tranny I think was 11/5/05 and the Libby was 11/16/05. Either way I was part of the mix. I quit letting them do TSB's generally after the filter TSB's. If I could get the new TC with the F37 now though I would likely go ahaed as the GDE seems to reverse it anyhow. That way I get the new TC then the better tune on top of it and I don't need to pay for the new TC.

The ECU that GDE flashes and will reflash if needed is engine control

is not the same as the Transmission controller that is encrypted and will be changed by F37.

so even though the GDE flash makes more power - the tranny still will overrev to 2200 rpm before it locks up
not the 1800 that the pre F37 had.

The link I gave shows the cutoff date as 11/2/05 at 2PM for the build date/time of the jeep. I don't know if that is the start or completion time of the jeep but yours built on the 16 does not meet the requirements.

So 2006 models on the assembly line with a November 02, 2005 at 2:00pm cutoff would also need the F37 applied per DCX.

So since he logged onto dealer connect he's priviledged to more then you and I. It sounds as if it applies to whole jeeps.

But in this of the test of the document it says:

NOTE: This notification applies only to the above vehicles equipped with a
2.8L diesel engine (“5” in the 8th VIN position) and automatic transmission
(sales code DGQ) built through November 2, 2005 (MDH 110214).


Does that indicates it's the date of the transmission :?: :?:

But in either case your tranny was built (if memory servs) on 11/5/05 and the jeep on 11/16/06 and both are past the 11/2/05 so you would not get the TC just the shaft.errr flash :oops: As I did. My build date was Jan 25, 06

OK, so I guess I need to check with GDE and see what they say about a non F37 TCU. If they are OK with it then I am better off buying the EURO TC and having it installed at a trustworthy tranny shop (wonder if there are any of those?) :lol: :lol:
