Total loss of power after hard acceleration.

Post subject:  Total loss of power after hard acceleration.
This has happened three times: after a hard acceleration, engine shuts off.
Codes P0093, P1251, P0504. Any thoughts what this could be?

Start with a clogged fuel filter - or an air leak
the 093 is a low fuel pressure code

After you replace the filter just for giggles open it up and unroll the filter media :wink:

You'll find it covered by black sooty looking stuff :shock:

My last filter only had 12k miles on it and I was shocked by what I saw. Asking around I found out it was normal on common rail systems.

After seeing this I'm going to install a 3 micron "post" filter after the original to trap what might have snuck by the factory one :D
