Mackruss: none of the North American ECUs will work in your hand shaker model. You will need to find an export model with manual tranny, if you want the computer to work. It would probably be cheaper for you to just get it reflashed by your local dealer.

I tried the dealer and they said that she's unflashable and needs to be replaced. I'm going to try one more dealer ( before they close up) for a second opinion.

At the current exchange rate, they quoted me 1200$ to replace the unit

Did they try to reflash it, or just look at it and say that it can't be done?

My new CRD has the same code, dont seem to bother any thing, but I sent an email to GDE to see if their reflash could clear it, here is the reply I got:

We are not able to clear a P0610 code in most situations. There is some sort of module confusion in your vehicle. You could try disconnecting the battery for about an hour, then reconnect and see if the code clears on its own. Otherwise the dealer will have to clear the code as it is most likely an issue with the body controller and not the engine controller. I hope this helps you out.

BTW, passed NYS inspection with no problem today even though I have a P0610 and a P0102 DTC. It is not required in NYS to connect to the OBD connector on diesel powered vehicles for an inspection, if you have a gasser, you had better not have a CEL.

I don't think you are going to have much success disconnecting your battery. I've tried that already. Dealer needs to reflash or replace
