 Post subject: On 2 Post Lift--Pad Style?

Hello Fellas,

When you put your vehicle on a 2 post lift, what style pad are you using?

There is a substantial pinchweld that extends below the bottom of the subframes, mostly to the front of the vehicle, and I am really not thrilled about lifting on the edge of this flange. One, I am afraid it will bend over. Two, it's cutting like hell into a flat, square pad, ruining them while still sitting somewhat in the flange.
I tried a round pad, keeping it to the inside of the pinchweld, but still on the flat undersurface of the subframe. I really don't like this as it is not centered, could slide off to the inboard side and looks to be a little dicy.
I thought about a block of wood to make up the height of the pinchweld, but wanted to hear what you all had been using to lift the Jeep.

Suggestions appreciated soon as the Jeep will be on and off the lift quite a bit in the near future.

If you find you need to lift from that seam weld area frequently, maybe you can take a 2x4 and cut a couple of 18" lengths and groove one side at the center for the seam weld...just a suggestion...

Or professionally weld/attach/bolt a strong metal section on either side...

On my lift I put a block of wood next to the pinch weld going along the box section "frame" for the front pads. Pads go right on the wood that way. Back ones go right on the box section.

I still might weld up a little metal box for the pads though. We'll see.

It is a little hard to see the front pad of the lift.

I realize the pics are from when you installed the exhaust, but do you have a closer pic?

Or maybe explain what the front pad is like, then maybe I can deduce its form.

The pads (four), attached to the part of the lift that actually slides into the tube / arm that is attached to the lift, "rotate" to accomodate the angles of each vehicle as its pulled into the bay area.

In addition, the ends of the pads can be "flipped up" to gain about an extra 3" of rise to keep the arms from coming into contact with the car body. The pads are in the "flattened" position that you see in the pics.

If more rise is needed, for instance when lifting full size pickups, there are some other adaptors that go onto the pads that gain 12" or more clearance between the frame and the arms to prevent contact.

Clear as mud ?????

I'm not very good at explaining some things.......... :(

Thanks for the explaination, but my concern is the pinch weld protruding lower than the subframe at the front of the vehicle.

But food for thought, I may try the flip-ups, turned 90*.

I don't recall the pinch weld even being remotely close to any of the 4 arms when the rack was set as in the above picture.
