Wife called this evening. The liberty made a muffled pop sound and no longer pulled. I checked the codes. P0700, P0734, and P0876. We'll see what the dealer says tomorrow. I searched but didn't see anyone with the same codes. We're still under warranty. But I just worry they'll try to say something about it.

That really sucks.

P0700 Transmission Control System MIL request
P0734 Gear 4 incorrect ratio
P0876 Transmission fluid pressure sensor/switch D circuit range/performance

Muffled pop followed by a drop in power sounds like you blew an intercooler hose (I did it about 3 months ago). If one the the codes is underboost, then you can be pretty sure (also, a fun sound of wooshing air coming from the engine bay when you hit the go pedal will confirm it.).

I know all to well that scenario. I've popped boots off my cummins several times. Although at 45-50psi they make a very loud POP-WHOOOSH sound.

Even with a blown off hose the vehicle would be able to pull itself around. The transmission is in a limp mode. (I'm guessing it's stuck in 3rd or 4th gear) I can get the vehicle to move but it has to be reved high before it will start to move. Plus all the codes are transmission related.

Dealership called. Looks like it's transmission time. :(

I'm considering selling this thing once it's fixed.

Were the filters serviced recently? If the spin on filter came flying off, it would make a distinct sound inside the trans, and prevent all go forward or backwards.

And there you go! That turned out to be the problem!

Got it running again today. Seems DC found this issue out and has redesigned the filter to have the threaded collar made into the filter now. Whew what a relief!

Glad to hear you got it fixed with only minor expense and trouble. So are you gonna keep it or sell it? :?:

It'll stay for now. I've got a diablosport power puck sitting here and a SEGR on the way. (I'll install them after the warranty is up)

That sound probably wasn't as bad as the differential cover bolt that broke off on an old Oldsmobile I had. The bolt head was rusted in place so nothing looked wrong on the outside. But if you hit a bump the wrong way, the bolt shank would jump up into the ring gear and BONG!

Took forever to figure out. But it didn't disable the car, so it wasn't as critical as your trans.
