Hey guys,

In the summer the Crd decided to go into limp mode on me so with some trouble shooting i came to a conclusion that it was the soliniod that went out. Now im hearing a buzzz/hmming noise coming from the vacuum reservoir and the crd again went into limp mode.
Can anyone conferm on the noise, if its normal or not and if that black box is the vacuum reservoir.

What is the fault code that you recorded? The buzzing should signify that the boost solenoid is at least trying to work. The on/off solenoid may have failed, this would prevent vacuum from reaching the boost solenoid. Try clearing the code and bypassing the vacuum reservoir by moving the vacuum supply straight to the 'vac'port on the boost solenoid.

funny thing is that i have no code or cel and your right the buzzing noise is coming from the solenoid. Its dark now and i cant see anything so ill try doing the by pass with the lines tomorrow. I did notice one thing, that when i removed the VAC line from the part that has the little filter there was suction.

by the way, which part is the on/off solenoid from this chart in case i need to order it.

The bigger vac switch in the picture, on the lower left of the top arrangement in the pic, is the boost solenoid. The thin vac line with the 90* elbow is the line that runs to the turbo. You can tell b/c this line is covered in aluminum foil shielding.

The other line with the one-way barrel-looking inline part (black with a tan disc at one end in the pic) is the supply line from the engine.

To bypass the vac-stack and the on-off switch (the smaller one at the back there) simply unplug the CENTER line from the boost solenoid, and replace it with the short connector running from the supply line.

I have been running like this for several days, and it works just fine. I've got other issues that I'm still chasing down right now, but lack of vacuum isn't (for now) one of them.
