Post subject: | CRD LIFT QUESTION? |
Sorry if this is the wrong section for this. I have a 2005 CRD, I want larger tires so I need a lift. I looked for a thread on this to see what you guys thought about the Rocky Road budget lift kit, I want to retain factory ride and I'm not crazy when it comes to the off road, just some mud and trees when I bow hunt and camp. I know their are several "budget style" lift solutions to choose from, what do you guys suggest? Any help is appreciated. Cheers! |

Better to save some $$$ and get the complete Old Man Emu Lift Parts from www.Boulderbars.com ... It is about $850.00 but that gets you the proper springs/struts and shocks. It will give you about 2"-2.25" and a much better ride than stock. You can in the mean time put on some 235/75/16s on a stock CRD (they are basically 30" tires...and they look fine after the lift too! Hercules makes that size...Toyo also makes that size. Hope this helps. ![]() Here is what the Hercules Terra Trac ATs look like... ![]() |

The Rocky Road budget kit that puts a spacer between the strut top and body mount - has been known to kill struts in as little as 1 weekend. (search for OTT lifts) It really only takes 1-2 cycles of the suspension since it bottoms out on the strut internals there have been a couple of people that gotten them to work - but it takes extended bumpstops so that you don't bottom out. The OME springs/struts - give a lift, a much better ride and it won't kill the suspension |

There is another member on the board here that came over to my house with his CRD and we were talking about lifts. He said his stock CRD rode just fine and was thinking about the cheaper lift. I let him drive my CRD with the OME Frankin-Lift and it was night-and-day difference. I don't want to give out his name, but I believe he is now sold on getting the good stuff also. If you can, go drive someone’s CRD that has the good stuff on it and see for yourself. |

Thanks guys, now many companies use the OME springs and struts+shocks so are you recommending that I go with a kit that uses these components or OME has a full and all included kit? I know the frakenlift has the OME springs, the rocky road rockfather 1 & 2, has anybody dealt with these options versus the full OME? Thanks for all the help!!! Cheers! |
