What's the real difference? Is it in the springs or are these things the same thing with a different name? I don't do any wheeling, but I've read the Frankenlift will give a better ride, which is what I'm looking for. FWIW I do a fair of towing with my Tow Piglet as well. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I like the all OME (Old Man Emu) lift for the CRD http://www.boulderbars.com/frankenlift_crd.htm
for $804.00 and change. You just don't get the replacement top plates and you assemble the front struts yourself. That means you don't have to pay the $100.00 core charge or send back your old struts. For a 2006 CRD you need the rear brake line extender.

There have been many comparisons in the 4x4 forums, but those don't likely apply as we have CRD's. I would not by the RockFather unless it comes with stiffer CRD specific springs in the front.

I have been eye balling the Frankenlift for some time, and finally read about the Rockfather. They seem to say the same things. Maybe I'll venture out of the CRD section and into the 4x4 section and read up...

If you do do the frankie, save your self some time and money and have either Napa or some one else assemble your coil overs. It cost $40 bucks to have both done at my Napa....... Well worth it!

So its a STIFFER ride than stock? I think it rides like a box of rocks already, Id like to 'soften' that up. If I want handling, I'm not plannin on getting it out of my jeep!

It is not that the ride is stiffer as much as it is much more controlled with the proper weight springs and valved shocks/struts. Stiff is easy to do...Soft is easy to do...Right takes some work. The OME is Right!

OME's claim to fame has always been progressively wound springs
i.e. initial bump response is soft
bigger bump response is hard

rides smooth - but handles well.

To bad the OME coils for a KJ(all the coils) are linear coils only, not progressive rate.
