Since I had the torque converter replaced a few months ago, I have been having shudder for the first time. Mainly when accelerating while running 40-55 up hill. When they replaced the TC I thought I was getting the new one, but after looking at the work order I did not.

My concern is my extended warranty is all most up, and I would like to get the new converter, if they decide that is what the problem is. Has anyone had a torque converter replaced under warranty and had the 68037142AA installed? Was this what is listed in their system by default or is this something that you had to ask for?

Well I answered my own question. I had to run to the dealer at lunch to get a part for my brothers TJ, and asked about the torque converter for the libby. According to the parts guy, 68037142AA shows up as the latest part number.

Yes, the new "Euro" TC is now the standard replacement part. Good luck getting them to swap it again before your warranty is up.

I'm about to pay out of pocket for a new TC and pump installation on my '05 (no extended warranty and factory was only 3/36).

Actually the 05's had a 7/70 power train warranty to the original owner. Second owner had to pay a transfer fee and third owners were sol

grywlfbg, the two dealers I use both seem to have the mentality, it's under warranty, lets throw parts at it until it is fixed.

Joe, I am one of those SOL third owners, I bought an Chrysler extended warranty shortly after I bought the Jeep. But it has been worth the ~$2000 I paid for it, EGR x2, glow plug, TCM, PCM x2, transmission, rear axle, intercooler hose, torque converter, valve body, etc, etc. I am just worried that it is going out of warranty, what is this thing going to cost me.

Well, my CRD ate an EGR at 13,500 miles and was replaced under warranty. Soon after I did the ORM and EHM mods (now running just EHM w/ GDE tune) and it's been completely problem-free except for this transmission thing. I'm hopeful that once I install the Euro TC and upgraded pump that this thing will be bulletproof.

Go back and get the tech to ride along with you while you make it shudder. There will be no way that they can say "unable to replicate condition". They "should" change it out for the new one when you show them the the new one is intended to solve the shudder problem.
