I have been hearing a thumping in the front end that increases with speed for a while know. So while looking the front end over I noticed that my right side output shaft seal on the front axle was leaking. I grabbed the cv shaft and it had alot of play up and down, like a 1/4 inch. I checked the other side and same thing, lots of slop. |

A lift is going to cause greater warranty-voiding wear on the CV as well as bigger tires. |

If you have any sort of lift you can kiss any warranty repair of those component goodbye. Read your owners manual, modification voids the warranty. If your sure its a stuffed CV, or your trusted mechanic is sure, you could take it back to stock and take it in to a dealer and maybe they will fix it under warranty. |

I agree with Glend, but I would take it a step further. After confirming exactly what is wrong and that those things are definitely covered by the warranty you have, return to stock and then go to a dealer who has never seen the vehicle before. (CRDs are rare enough that someone may remember it and the lift and you will be toast.) You can argue that the lift did not cause the problems, but in all likelihood, it probably played a role and your chances of getting dealer cooperation is low. BTW, our local dealer told me that since the FIAT takeover, there has been a real "crackdown" on warranty claims and they are rejecting things that were never an issue when Chrysler owned them. DOC |

Honestly, lifting a CRD 2 " actually puts the CVJoints at a better angle than stock...but good luck convincing a dealership of that. When it comes to "slop"...the CV Axles are going to move in and out a bit due to design and function. |

I took before and after pictures of my CV angles when I installed the lift, for just such an argument. On a CRD they point up, stock. With a 2" lift, they point the same amount down. No net change in CV angle. |
