Green Diesel Engineering just released our first KJ CRD aftermarket ECU tuner package. We are unlike other tuners on the market as this is a complete tune that addresses all known issues with the KJ CRD. Check out our website for full details on the product offering at www.greendieselengineering.com We are available to discuss our methodology and product engineering within this topic or through our support page on the website. This is not a add-on chip, but a full system approach to improve fuel economy, drive ability, performance and low smoke.

Most of us on here like the Inmotion tune. They do a good job of programming and customer service AND are $200 cheaper than you. You'll need to do a lot of convincing around here and be a lot better than Inmotion. Good Luck

The inmotion tune does not fully turn off EGR, it just uses less of it. The fuel economy gains we achieved are better due to a combination of using no EGR, advanced injection timing, slightly higher fuel pressure, increased boost and modified pilot injection events. Additonally, our tune achieves solid performance gains without any increase in tailpipe smoke levels. The torque increases are accomplished with no increase in torque converter shudder (with the stock converter). The shudder is caused when the engine torque exceeds the torque capacity on the converter clutch, this is why the shudder only occurs during lock-up. We have modified the pedal map torque calibration in the rpm/load zone where the shudder is most prominent. This means that you will hit the downshift point before the torque really lights up the converter.

Regarding the cost, the InMotion tune + SEGR kit (to turn off EGR with no CEL) is equal to almos the same cost as our product. However, with our calibration, there is no need to modify the wiring harness of the vehicle to add in additional boxes which could draw attention by dealerships and void your warranty. Our offering does it all inside the ECU with no external hardware modifications, and guarantees it in all operating conditions.

I'm assuming no cel would be present with the egr turned off. I would want to block off the egr with a plate and it has been verified to work with Kerma's tune w/o cel. What about yours? Also will there be a lost discount. You know we will be your best advertisement if the product is well received here.

Thanks,
Todd

Who needs a ECM to turn off the EGR when we have ORM?

Nice try coming outta nowhere 2+ years too late. Maybe if you had a better rep like Inmotion and did something besides our VM's, and didn't charge $200 extra for unproven tech. * (This is an introductory offer with a built in 25% discount.) ROFL

Let's see an actual dyno sheet... http://www.greendieselengineering.com/goPage.do?method=perfComp

and more proof on the mpg increase, that somehow Inmotion missed on their eco tune.

There is no EGR check engine light with our tune. The EGR diagnostic uses the mass air flow reading and checks it against the set point flow. If the difference is above/below the deviation limits set in the calibration, there is a CEL turned on. We have opened the deviation limits to infinite so a CEL with never turn on a light for EGR.

As far as blocking the EGR valve circuit, we do not recommend this for one reason. If you do an acceleration and then tip out of the throttle there will be built up boost that puts pressure on the rotating assembly in the turbocharger. This pressure causes a rapid decrease in the rpm of the turbo compressor/turbine shaft. This is evident if you hear a pulsing sound from the intake system, also referred to as surging. The ECU has logic that opens up the EGR for about 0.5 seconds to allow the residual boost to bleed off and this reduces the stress on the turbo rotating assembly and extends the life of the turbo.

The only time we open EGR with the Green Diesel tune is for turbo surge protection. Our goal with this tune was to provide the best possible fuel economy and performance without sacrificing any long term longevity of the engine.

Finally!!! An intelligent use of the egr valve. Welcome to LOST. Appreciate the thoughtful responses.

x2 - in the past, blocking off the EGR was necessary because cranking up Boost would blow the normally-closed EGR valve open, the valve-spring having been calibrated for oem Boost levels, thus losing Boost out the exhaust system - working similarly to the old A.I.R. systems, it could lead to exhaust-valve destruction, even worse - much easier to manage, with this ECM-controlled solenoid-valved EGR.............

Is this a flash or are components changed and do you have a "programmer box" like inmotion offers for a extra fee?

I think its great to bring out other alternatives. I'd like to see how this performs. Thanks for bringing some competition to the market place.

To all the aggressive replies, let it be tested, and if it works great, it might even work better than inmotion. Alternative solutions should always be welcome.

New product ! Good to know.
I have 2 questions
-the idle is 746rpm on those CRD, can you reduce it to 600rpm ? minimise the pushing effect on D position at stop sign. Good for Hemi TC on CRD.
-I have tool to reflash edc16C2 (BDM); If i send you my ori file and $$$, can you send me back your tuned file ?

Best regard

Green, welcome to the forum. You have to excuse some of the folks on here, they're an angry lot that don't get out much. :D

Congrats for having a little competition out there... we need it. I'll volunteer my ECM as a testbed and be sure to provide some positive feedback on your new startup company. :-)r This is America!

What's the deal with the turbo upgrade?

You make some pretty serious mileage increase claims. My CRD gets 21 city, 29 highway with the way we drive, 70-75mph. You claim a 1/3 increase, 21 to 28, under what conditions?

I don't know why there is such hostility above in this thread. Thanks GreenDiesel for coming out with this and bringing some alternatives. No EGR, no CEL and no ORM/SEGR is a good thing! Let's get some data and testing before we dismiss anything. I may just try this on the wife's CRD and compare side by side with mine.

Sounds promising. A little pricey. I'd be the perfect test case for them, as my driving habits and routes are the same almost every day. If I were to get this tune, I could have definite concrete results in about a months time

x3, Why in the world are we flaming someone who offers a dedicated solution for our low-volume (at least in NAFTA) vehicle? I'm all ears because I'm very hesitant to splice into the wiring harness - that's why my SEGR is still sitting in my garage awaiting install.
