 Post subject: etc light flashing and engine over reving after car wash

Went to a car wash today and when driving out engine was reving to 2k rpm by itself then settle down drove a little further and it went to 4k! The ETC light cam on and was flashing. Pulled over shut it down and it was ok. What the heck was up with that???

Electrical short. You've got exposed wire somewhere, and water crossed the connection and it affected the "throttle" control. (strange since a diesel does not have a throttle. . . ) A place to look would be between the fuel filter head and the firewall.

That's more of a problem on the 06 models with the fuel head raised to clear the ABS/ESP causing the harness to rub on the sharp edge :D
