Are we able to use a TCM from a non CRD liberty ?

Nope. It would be simpler if we could.

Gasoline modles have the ECM and TCM in one unit :SOMBRERO: As far as I know, I could be wrong, the Dodge Cummins and our CRD's are the only two Chrysler products with seperate ECM and TCM's :D

Dang  I hope my future CRD does not have the dreaded F37. In the mean time I will keep a look out for anyone parting out a CRD in my area.

You must remember that F37 was preformed on BOTH the ECM and TCM  The GDE tune can undo what was done to the ECM and then some  I had the original firmware in my TCM for the first two weeks of ownership and have mixed feelings about it. The later shift points eliminate the droning sound that was bothersome to me and I like them. What I don't like is that any slight acceleration causes the RPM's to shoot up to 2400-2600 :| This was done because the fluid pump does not produce enough pressure at lower RPM's and the torque converter suffered :ALONE: I feel this is the biggest cause of poor fuel mileage :furious:

Interesting... I have no problem keeping mine under 2200rpms at all times.

The F37 changes were most noticeable under acceleration
in my case I have a hill on the way to work - traffic light at the bottom - 65mph freeway at the top -
before F37 I had to slow down to keep at at 65
after F37 I could barely get to 65

(That hill is the entire reason I was looking for something new when I bought my Jeep - my FJ80 would be at 45)

As soon as I heard about F37, shortly after I bought my CRD I started to hunt down an affordable non-flashed TCM. www.jeep.com listed my CRD as having all recalls up-to-date. A month or so later I started to notice people commenting on F37, and it didn't sound exactly like what my CRD does. After some investigation, I found out that my TCM is NOT F37 after all  !

So my advice is this, once you get your CRD, warm it up to operating temps and follow the information found here - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=48911 - If your CRD acts like my video, you do not have the F37. Then you can start looking for a flashed TCM to swap in for dealership visits.
