Post subject:  problems with power module

Lets start off here and say im new to the forum but have had my CRD for a little over 2 years now. Its an 2005 with 64,000. Ive had the usual problems with it, like the EGR, and blown both the turbo hoses. I have done the EHM mod, and cleaned my MAP sensor every oil change.

And now on to the problem. I have a Scorpion Performance Diesel module that i purchesed and installed awhile ago. Everything seemed ok until i installed a boost gauge and i found that the PSI was significantly lower for each level when i turned on the controller. There are 4 levels. At stock i would level out about 19 PSI and level 1 would be about 15 psi, 2 would be like 12psi, and 3 would be like 9 psi. Now i called the company and asked them about it and they said they never heard of anything like it so they wanted me to send it in for them to look at it. After they received it and looked it over they told me they found nothing suspicious with it so they replaced the module and sent it back. I reinstalled it and am still having the same problem. If your wondering theres no cutting of wires, its all plug and play, and it plugs into the MAP sensor and the fuel rail.

So my question is, What do you guys think is wrong here. Is the MAP sensor bad, because im not throwing any codes for that. I dont know im completely confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Eric

The box may not be "fooling" the ECU for some reason. Most boxes work by tricking the ECU into adding more fuel which, in simplicity, means more power. If the ECU is not fooled, then it is dialing back boost in response to increased fuel.

Most times a box works by telling the ECU that there is lower levels of boost so that it will add more fuel to deliver the power your right foot is asking for. If your boost guage is taking readings from the OBD II port, then the boost readings you are getting are the "fooled" readings, which is how the box you installed works in the first place. (If that is the case, do you really want to use a box that could possibly make your engine overfuel and blow itself up?) If your boost guage is independent of the OBD II port (i.e., you drilled a bung into the intake and installed the pressure sensor and wired up the boost guage in the cabin) then you have a problem on your hands that likely would have triggered a turbo underboost code, but is not because of the box fooling the ECU.

Just curious, that`s 19 psi at full throttle ?

It peaks at like 24 or 25 psi and levels off at 19 at WOT. And i did drill and tap into the intake manifold. I also never threw a underboost code. so i messed around with it one day and found if i plug the MAP sensor back to stock and leave the fuel rail plugged in to the box ill push normal boost.
