I noticed on my ecu that there is a sticker with a barcode over top of the original stock barcoded sticker from Chrysler of Germany. The newest sticker says "authorized software update". Was there a recall on these at some point or does anyone have any idea on this?

There have been many flashes for the ECM and TCM.

There's a listing of most of them in the CRD TECH section.

The well liked F37 is a fine example :dead:

tweaks
at the minimum there was a Glow plug timing change

there may be been some more - only the F37 impacted performance and that was mainly TCM.

Is there anyway I can know exactly what has been done to it?

If you know someone with a better then average scanner that can get the exact part numbers of the ECM and TCM you'll know EXACTLY by the last two positions that are alpha charectors.

A current VAG-COM release will read it for you.

The dealer should be able to get you a report of what the mopar in the sky computer has but I don't know how accurate it is and there's the possibility if you bought used the PO has changed it for whatever reason. Last week I needed a ignition lock for my 00 XJ and their computer still has the key information on my 10 year old XJ :frankie:

Are your discounting the suspected 10% reduction of torque done to the ECM :seuss:

The 10% Torque reduction was a signal on one wire to the ECM at the point of the shift
(MrMopar mentioned it and gmctd blocked it)

and personally the engine wasn't that effected - it was the shifting around 2300 rpm instead of 1800 - so you're catching the next gear as the power is dropping off instead of increasing so it makes it feel much weaker -
but if the tranny is locked up - it actually worked better after F37.
(I'd still buy a non F37 TCM if I could find one - the good does not outweigh the bad)

Tennessee,

This is the thread in the Tech section (one down in the CRD/ E85/ Alternative Fuel section) about ECM and TCM reflash and revision history performed by Chrysler. It's a little technical, but if you slog it through to the end it should give you some insight on the significance of the last alphanumeric characters on the barcode.
