Post subject:  CRD bleeder valve kit
Anybody have the CRD bleeder valve kit from lubricationspecialist.com? Is it a nice kit? Do you like it? I'm going to get the CAT 2 micron fuel filter from them...and I wonder if the bleeder kit is worth adding to the order.

I have it with the new Mopar filter head. It works just fine and is less messy than the old bleeder valve.

I cut the plastic tube to ~6-8 inches and drilled a hole in the top of a medicine bottle. Insert the tube into the medicine bottle, place the bottle in a small niche in the engine block, and prime away. Works like a charm.

Be sure not to over crank this valve... just turn it down so it is snug.

I ordered one with my Fumoto valve and I couldn't get the thing to work quite right. I tried a few different things with it and never got mine to stop leaking air overnight so I put the stock bleader back. I don't think I had mine put togther right though it may not be a bad product. I did like how it could direct the flow into a cup for less mess. I may have to give it another go sometime.

... Or just install a Mr Gasket style lift pump near the tank, and never worry about that plunger OR the bleeder screw again.

Just sayin.

I ran a hose from the bleeder valve to a tee at the return line with a check valve.
Then I bleed after changing fuel filter as following:

1 open bleeder
2 cycle key on for 30 seconds three times.
3 close bleeder
4 start engine

no drips, no runs, or errors :jester:

where did you tie into the return line?

I was thinking about the same to my wifes CRD..

it already has a racor fuel head and the pump mounted near the tank. so this would make for a no mess air bleed.

I installed a tee and short hose off the fitting on left rear of head return line. Then a short hose, check valve then longer hose to bleeder valve. Works like a charm :pepper:

With a lift pump why is it needed :?: Long ago someone here determined there was an air purge cycle built into the programming of the CP3 high pressure pump. I don't recall if it was on shutdown or start up though :ALONE: I still have my original filter head and replaced the filter this past weekend. It started like normal with nothing but a 2 or 3 second glow cycle :BANANA:

I seem to remember reading that as well.
tapping the air purge into the return would give a no spill/no mess to bleed a new filter

atleast why I'm thinking of tapping the return line and tying the air purge line.

I'm gonna guess it was the shutdown, as my Mr Gasket pump is wired in directly to the relay in the engine bay (Why is the relay factory installed when we don't have a fuel pump?) and when I shut down and pull the key, I can still hear it whirring for about 10 seconds, then it shuts off.
