So I ordered the CAT fuel filter and bleeder kit from lubricationspecialist.com. Well, there were ZERO instructions in the box so it took me a few minutes to figure out, but I finally got the bleeder kit installed. The fuel filter isn't even close to fitting. The thread is WAY different....and there is no provision for the water sensor. What the heck? So now I gotta' send that back. Anybody here have the same issue?

there was some discussion about getting the oring in the correct order
this was Stan's writeup

(The water sensor was never intended to be connected - it was typically ziptied out of the way)

I called him and ask about the CAT filter before ordering it. I remember being told that it was not a direct fit. I believe that there was some kind of adaptor that he doesn't sell anymore due to lack of demand.

I just got my filter at Napa

Yeah, the heart of the kit is a threaded adapter that's custom machined. You remove the threaded nipple from your stock filter head and install the new one, new o-rings, and Cat filter. I thought they ran out of the adapters like a year ago. Plus you lose water sensor capability but who really cares.

Well it would have been nice to know that before I paid for it, you know? Said nothing of all this on the website. I think he needs to put a disclaimer on there or something so people at least would know. Thanks for the info. Time to find a Mopar filter I guess.

Yes you should call or email Greg. He seemed like a nice guy I'm sure he will take care of you. I agreee he should add something on that items description stating it won't work unless the fitting on your fuel head has been changed.

I would just go to Napa or some place like that for a stock type filter. NAPA part FIL3647

my local Napa is the only place that stocks or can order the filter. they offer a discount to AAA members in my area too.

LibertyCRD,
Send me 10 bucks and I will send you my cat-fuel filter adaptor (never used). The 10 bucks should easily cover shipping/handling/gas to post-office. If LibertyCRD doesn't want it, its up for grabs for anyone else who wants it.

Is that adapter all there is to it? Are there more pieces I'll need to? I didn't get any o-rings with the filter. All he sent was the filter and that's it.

I seem to remember there being one new o-ring that goes around the new threaded nipple, because it is of course a different diameter. Do you have a lift pump? A few of us had air leak problems after disassembling the filter head that far to install the adapter.

I have no lift pump (yet) and no obvious air leaks and/or problems with my fuel system. So I think it's best that I just stick with OEM filters. Besides, I like the water-in-fuel light on the dash. It saved me once before.

Thanks.

Yep, sounds like a mod to skip. Especially if you are still under warranty.

The Cat filter is $12.60US from the Cat dealerships, save a few extra bucks plus the shipping charges.
