about a year ago, got the ECU reprogrammed by inmotion stage 2 and a new TC, from suncoast

and about a year ago, i got a predator chip from Dr. Performance stage i. wich sat in my drawer .

So i stacked the predator box on top of the ECU mod and the truck finally moves !

My EGT at regular driving is may be 100 F higher than before wich is fine in my book..

EGT prove is placed after the turbo (yes i know) i dont have a garage and didnt feel like taping the cast iron manifold.

anyway, egt reaings with ORM

cruising highway 400-600 F
accelerating 800 F (heavy acceleration, not just wimpy foot)
full throttle from a stop 1000F
full throttle after lockup is about 800 too

and here is what made me raise an eyebrow... full throttle i saw the egt climb to 1k...with prove after turbo

My question is... 1k F is too much for a reading after turbo ? i know that i dont go WOT all the time.

What do you think ?

The thing is that the truck feels really nice, fast! and i m sure many will think this is an idiot think to do (wich is cool, cos i do idiot things all the time).

GMCTD stacked an Edge on top of an Inmotion Tune and recorded his observations and opinions.
Do a search for his posts of wisdom.
I miss him, where ever he is.

In my opinion tunes are remaps and add on chips lie to the ECM with resistors and other electronic components to increase performance by jacking rail pressure and boost. With our lousy cetain, we need a timing advance to compensate for it and restore the performance VM designed into the system. I would look at the Marine HP ratings posted online so you know how much margin you have.

I Have a IMII and have for years now, i have significantly higher egt than you.

Where did you put your probe? Mine is also post turbo, it's exactly one inch from the clamp. It's set at a depth of one and a quarter inches.

I get 700-900 f cruise temps and i can easily hit 1400+ egt on a decent grade.

Garret says our upper working threshold is 1600f. To me that means post turbo temps of 1400-1500f?

GDE had to limit power with their HOT tune so as to not exceed the maximum allowable speed of the stock turbo. The reason they make so much more power with their turbo kit is it will safely run at much higher RPM than the stock turbo, producing more boost. So, the answer to your question is the engine will probably take it, but your stock turbo won't for too long.
