I have an 05 sport and as sport owners know, the driver's seat is wearing pretty quick, and they stain easy. Would limited leather seats bolt right in if I found them in fro, a wreck?

Physically they will bolt right in, the wiring is not there. You will need to spend a little time figuring out the wiring.

The only other issue is the pass seat passenger sensor, its what turns the airbag on/off, you will need to remove the sensor from your old seat and install it on your new seat(it is coded to the jeeps vin and will cause the airbag light to come on and the "pass airbag off" light to come on unless the sensors is reset for your jeep). After I did that the airbag light went off, everything worked like it should, then a little while later it came back on again, and stays on. Dunno why its doing it, don't care, I think the system is working.

What about the back seats? Do they have gray seats in leather?

I have to say that the seat material that they use in the Liberty Sport and the 06 and up Dodge trucks is brutal. What the heck were they thinking when they decided to go with such a stain / dirt magnet. I owned a 98 Dakota and an 04 Ram and the cloth material was great, it even looked nice. The material now is garbage!

As a limited owner, I'd not recommend getting the limited seats JUST for the leather. It's kinda thin and I've been rather envious of the leather seats in pretty much every other vehicle I've seen (including other jeep products). You might be better off with custom-fit leather covers from katzkin or similar. Now... I DO love the heated seats and wouldn't give those up :)

I have a 06 Limited. Don't assume all Limited's have leather seats :jester: All new 06 models I looked at had cloth seats. The cloth is different then the sport but it is still awfull.
But the worst part is the foam on the out side edges of both the seat bottoms breaks down very quickly :furious: I don't know if the leather seat foam is better or not but my foam showed signs of failing at less then 20k miles. I'm sure the bean counters saved $0.02 per seat :-)r

I own a 2000 Cherokee (XJ) Classic with 150,000 miles and the seats are in much better shape then on my 06 CRD at 31k :ALONE:

Limited leather seats are the same (outside edges where your hip tends to rub getting in and out started showing a crease around 15k miles). I'm wondering if a good upholstery shop can mold foam replacements....

I'm currently trying to find power leather seats to change out in my Sport. Here is a link on doing the install that I was referred to when I posted on here about a month ago: http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25651

I think its gonna be a bit different on a newer KJ, I as well didn't have the circuit in place, the difference was that I had the wiring in the floor, but the wiring in the fuse block wasn't there, basically your better off sourcing your own switched power and running it to the seat.

Can the seat skins just be swapped?
I never move my seat, both my wife and I keep it all the way back plus the extra from my KJ Extra Leg Room Brackets.

Dunno why its doing it, don't care, I think the system is working.

fyi any time your airbag warning light is on in your dash the system is disabled. if you were to get into an accident they will not deploy.

would be more work to do it that way. Once you find the power wires, you need only connect them to switched power, I went to the cig lighter - which is constant hot. This is only a problem if you leave the heated seat on for a long time and run the battery down. Otherwise its nice to have the power to the seat all the time, like if you need to move it forward to dig out your super gulp cup.

I don't believe Sam was stating his dash light was on (could be mistake though), but the airbag light for the passenger seat. That only disables the passenger side airbag. Supposed to protect small children if they are sitting there. Mine always lights up when I through my work bag on the seat because it exceeds the minimum weight, causing it to illuminate.

I was talking about the airbag light for the passenger seat, at first. After I installed the sensor that originally came with my Jeep this issue cleared itself. The gauge cluster light now comes on as it should, shuts off, then a short while(1-2 secs later) comes back on. From reading in the FSM I believe this indicates a stored fault code - which I think relates to the fact that my passenger stupid sensor was not correctly coded for my vin. Seeing as how I don't have a DRBIII it will be some time before I can get the airbag DTC checked. However, all the other behavior of the airbag system shows it functioning properly, when you do have a problem with the system(such as a deployed airbag) it will light up constantly and never turn off.

I replaced the cloth seat covers in my 05 Sport with leather ones from these guys:
http://leatherseatcovers.com/

It's been 50k since and they still look new. It's certainly not a two hour job but it's not impossible either.

BTW if your cloth covers are really shot I've got my old ones in the classifieds.
