My 06 Sport has its shoes wearing out. These vehicles seem to be hard on the rubber? I want stock size tires for traction, what have you found to be the best at wear? |

I've had the Yokohama Geolanders HT/s for the last ~50k and been happy with them. I just bought some TreadWright Puma ATs the other day and waiting for them to show up. |

Hi Flman, I run Firestone Destination AT's in the winter and Firestone Destination LE in the summer. the AT is very good on snow and ice but are noisier and ride harder. The LE's are smoother and quieter. Both are wearing well. I put A LOT of miles on the AT's that I had on a previous '97 G. Cherokee. If wear is what you want, go with the Michelin LTX AT2 or whatever they call it. Excellent wear and traction on road. |

Thanks for the replies so far, I am not interested in seasonal swapping of tires, I want year round, with good traction and longest lasting. I have a second set of Bridgestone AT Revos on my one Jeep, and they are already showing wear down. |

You may want to check your alignment, too... The only guy at my tire shop who actually drove a vehicle that had AT tires commented that Jeep manufactured the KJs with a lot of toe-in from the factory and that doing so adds some stability in straight-line handling and gives it some better manners on-road but that it forces lateral scrub at the expense of treadwear, so on CRDs, that's even further compounded by the heavier front-end. Before that alignment, my first 6000 miles on my 245/70R16 ATs showed excess wear at the outside edges of the front tires. After the shop rotated them and adjusted the toe to a more "neutral" angle, successive rotations have showed much less uneven wear. For what it's worth, I love my Dueller AT REVOs. It may not be the tires making them wear prematurely... Dan |

So far my Dura-Tracs seem to be wearing really well. While I have not physically measured the tread depth, I have put on approximately 15,000km's already and they still appear to be the same depth as brand new. I suspect the major highway use I have put them through lately it a contributing factor as well as the E load range rating on the stock size tire. Handle great in the snow and rain as well. |

I am just not impressed with the wear on those tires a 14K. I rotate once a year. Besides that, they are quiet and track good. How many miles should we get out of Revos? I might just go with Michelin's, they have always been my all time favorite. That is what I have on the steering axle of my Freightliner, I would not settle for any thing else. On the other hand, it is hard to find a Michelin on the aggressive side treadwise. |

I second the silent armour recommendation. I've got pro-grade silent armour's in stock size and they are amazing in the snow. I havent done much serious offroading, but I did do a light trail with 6inches of fresh snow in 2wd for 95% of it. In 4wd it was a beast. plus they are good on road too. A little noisy, but nothing serious. plus, they look good too

I have been running the Toyo Open Country HTs with a treadwear rating over 600. They have been wearing evenly (with a proper alignment) and have a good ride. Even tho mine are 235/75/16s (a bit taller than stock) they only weight about 3 more pounds than stock. |

I have Cooper ATR 215 85 R16 Load range E tires at 45 PSI. Grip much better than the GoodYears it came with. |

Need to consider at least two issues on or off road? And maybe more like snow or towing. I got the Goodrich TA/KOs and love them, load range D, they are great for towing, were exceptional on 1,000 miles of unpaved roads and look like they will last a long time, 40K miles on them and they look like they could go another 40K. They did well in the snow and are rated for it. But there is a fuel penalty, they are heavier, and they are only OK on the road (which is remarkable for a tire that is this good off road). If you're actually going to take you Liberty off road you have to at least consider this tire, if you are on road only then probably something else. |

I might be joining the seasonal swapping club with the shoes I just got today... BUT only because I took the option and had them pinned. My front tires (NEVER rotated) after 46k miles still are capable of swallowing a BIG chunk of a lincoln penny. BF Goodrich Commercial T/A All-season 215/85/16 LRE. Big strong bad boys, gotta love them. 50k mile treadwear warranty, I know I'll get 60+ without any problems. At 46k however, the rears were down to between 4 and 2 32'nds of tread... NOT sufficient for the snow and ice that are around Central Virginia these days. So I had a pair of the BF Goodrich Commercial T/A TRACTION (Same flavor as the front, but MUCH more agressive tread) 215/85/16 LRD put on today. I had to wait for the studs to be delivered to the shop, so I ran a couple quick errands b/c the guys thought I should be OK in just the slush, that it wouldn't pack-in the stud holes. It didn't. There is a hill that runs up toward my office that is a challenge to climb normally, with ice the last few days, I've slid around on it a bit. Even WITHOUT the studs, the CRD climbed that hill in just 2WD like it was a dry summer day. Driving 20 miles back home on a barely-cleared road with an easy 2-inch slush/snow pile in the center of the lanes... I felt like it was glued to the road. It will be interesting to see how these wear, I'm debating just running them during mud season here (spring) and pulling the studs out myself. OR I might pick up a set of rims and actually make these the winter tires. They are rated for severe off-road, as well as on-road fleet duty, so its a toss-up right now. I like them with studs tho. Feels very safe.

I like the replacement tires I bought, they are very quiet for an AT tire, have a good highway ride and did well on trails last weekend. give the Hercules Terra Trac AT a look. the tread pattern is close to the Revo's I looked at. |

Yep, the right tire for the season makes a huge difference. The worst snow tire is better in winter than the best all-season tire. I've bought lots of expensive all-seasons and lots of cheap (and expensive) snow tires, and can confirm this. - Chris |

I bought a set of 245/70 Michelin ATs from Tire Rack. So far, they are incredible in snow, on ice, rocks, steep dirt inclines, and are quiet and comfortable. The tread certainly isn't agressive looking, but the performance is fantastic. Don't think they'd be good in mud, though. They're a bit on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for. |

I got a set of General Grabber AT2's about 2 months ago and couldn't be more pleased with their performance. Great traction and a 60K mile tire! We've had more snow than usual in our area this year and I have really been able to put them to the test. The only thing to mention is that I did lose about 3-4 mpg on average when changing over from an all season tire. If that's not a concern then I would definitely recommend this tire as many others on the site use it as well. |

I'm waiting to see what my mileage feels like with these tires, they are a 50k mile tire, but the MPG is an unknown. I think I may have figured out what is really hitting my MPG tho - In digging around for the injectors from my old engine, I found the fuel rail... And the pressure sensor is missing. That means that the pressure sensor on my engine is very likely the original unit swapped over, and who knows if it is still working properly. |
