I bought a used 2006 CRD. Had it serviced, but seeing a fair amount of oil usage. It has 80K on it. and I've put in two quarts between oil changes (9k between oil changes). I don't see any oil leaks or blowing smoke. Very curious. Dare I ask what is typical? I'm using 5/40 Shell synthetic. Don't really want to start an oil thread.

I'm mostly stock. No modifications to the engine.

dip stick reads incorrect on our crds.......it takes 6.4 quarts no more no less............will seem to be using it if you check oil after 6.4 qts mark dipstick and go from there.............also check for oil in elephant hose area .Is it smoking on start up? ...............oh and welcome aboard lotsa smart folks on here.....................

If you are filling it up to the full mark, the oil is going into the intercooler. My "full" level is 1/4 inch below the high mark.
