Post subject:  Shock replacement interval on our CRD's?

Just wondering if anyone has replaced their shocks yet? Not having any issues but just curious... Should we be changing them any sooner to help out longevity of the Heavy Duty springs? Although I really haven't found a specific recommendation for gasser or Diesel.
Any ballpark figure on parts + labor?
From what I've read on LOST posts elsewhere seems like Mopar shocks are the best durability wise at least.
Any thoughts? Thanks

OEM,KYB,and Monroe stuff are pretty shot after 30k.OME,Rancho,Bilstien,and Koni's should last about 100k.

My OEM shocks are still good after 54K, I must not have Monroe.
When I had a repair shop the Westmorland VW Rabbits that had OEM Monroe made front struts never made it to 50K with out having the front end bounce like a pogo stick. Other Rabbits that had OEM struts from other vendors would go 80K to 100K before they were junk. Back then Monroe was pushing shock/strut replacement at 25K.
In my opinion, Monroe has one application, replacement for customers that are either terrorists or illegal drug dealers.

Put new ones on and you'll know how bad they really are with that mileage on them.

That is the thing most can not tell the difference when shocks degrade so slowing that most people can not tell the difference from new to totally worn out,but once new ones are installed they instantly know how bad they had been.

My rears were shot at 17,800 miles when i picked it up at the dealer, the fronts were still good - actually really good. Replaced them both anyways.

76,000 miles...my OEM rears are in excellent condition. I only replaced them with Skyjacker H7088s this week because I wanted longer shocks to compliment my lift.

My buddy has 192,000 on his OEM Mopar shocks and when I do the "bounce" test on his Jeep...it still passes with flying colors.

People can say what they want, but the OEM shocks are pretty darn good and will last a LONG time for most people.

Mine have 64K on them now. I did the bounce test and can't even get 1 recoil cycle on them. No evidence of tire cupping either. I hear what you're saying about lack of noticing them over time, but in my case....I'm still good.

I just replaced my stock stuff @ 75k with OME stuff (Springs/Struts/Springs) and could tell a difference. I could tell my stuff was worn out mainly when I tow, the ride was worse and worse.
