I had some shuddering at WOT and the engine was almost stalling when I would get at a traffic light just like if the torque converter wouldn't disengage. It would happened when I would stop or press on the accelerator from a full stop but intermittently. First thing I thought was tranny problem! Went to the dealer since it's still under warranty and got the F37 done. No change whatsoever!!! I kept on digging thinking that something was still wrong with the tranny. The mechanic who worked on my truck is a guy I've met a few years back when he had his own garage and I know he's good so I didn't really doubt his work and he told me the tranny was alright after the F37. But it kept on acting weird. Intermittent "almost stalling" like a manual tranny when you stop but don't press on the clutch and shudder under hard acceleration(like the tranny slipping). It also shook like mad when the tranny was in drive and I would wait at a stop (like an engine mount problem). It was a lot worst with the shaking when the 4wd would be on. As I was wondering what the hell was wrong and tried to bring more infos to my mechanic, a CEL just popped from out of nowhere. Checked the code and it was the code for the flow control valve (electronic throttle control actuator). Great! I checked with the stealership to get the FCV which is going for 600$can then I checked on moparpartsamerica and discovered that our southern neighbors are getting away with 256 usd!!!! What a scam. I ordered the part from an American seller and got away for about 400$ can. I installed it yesterday morning and I ran about 150km with the truck with no more "tranny" shuddering, shaking or weirdness!!!! I guess that this darn flow control valve is creating some problems that looks like it's the tranny but the FCV is the real problem. I had what I thought was tranny problems for about 6 months before I got the CEL for the FCV. From what I felt, the butterfly seems to be sticking, keeping the torque motor from doing it's job properly. Hopefully, this will help others who think they have transmission problems! |

Cataloging all of the KJs shakes and shimmies can be a full time job. I had a similar engine stall when coming to a stop and it was solved by a new transmission pump. Mine was only in a certain transmission temperature range, usually the first or second stop after being parked. Felt like a manual trans that I forgot to push the clutch pedal in. |

When I noticed my CRD do the the "shakes" and read that it was the tranny, I flushed and filled with Amsoil UATF. Don't normally use Amsoil products, but this one did the trick. I have not had any of the shake and shudder issues since the change at 2500 miles. Still original T/C. Got 70,000 miles on the CRD now. Not sure if this would cure everyone elses shake and shudder problem. At least it didn't cost too much. |

I had this problem. Euro TC and new tranny pump fixed it. |
