Subwoofer with stock HU??

I just bought a KK sport last week and am new to this site. There are a bunch of things I plan to do to it but I think I want to start off with some bass. Could anyone tell me (if it's possible) how to hook up a sub and amp to the stock HU? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

All you need is a RCA Converter. Best Buy sells them for like 20-30 bucks and you just splice into your rear speakers and it creates RCA's for you to run to your amp.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I though all 09+ KK's came with a stock sub that is mounted on the passenger side in the rear???

Thanks for the replies.. sorry I haven't responded till now. That makes sense about the RCA adapter. Much thanks. Mine is an 08, so I doubt I have the stock sub.

Yeah, 08 wouldn't be stock. If you have the little tray on the passenger side rear, you don't have the OEM sub....

any pics of this oem sub? i need somethin instead of this 12 i got cause it takes up too much room. i wanna build a fiberglass enclosure somewhere...

the stock sub sucks its an 8 inch infinity unless they changed over to the kickers int he 09 liek they were supposed to... then IDK what it is, but i wanted to do a fiber glass panel int he back and make room for a 12 incher... maybe someday :roll:

I'm looking at eventually doing an 8" or possibly a 10" if I can make the room in the passenger side rear just like the factory ones. They make slim design subs that you're going to want to use. I'm still looking into how I'm going to be doing it exactly and to determine the size sub I can do. Once you pop that panel off then you can build an enclosure that it mount in. Fiberglassing is pretty easy. Once I get some designs I'll post them up.

I just used wood for mine, worked out pretty nicely, although the box is a bit small for a 12", but I wasn't willing to give up anymore cargo space, so I filled it with polyfill and called it good. Sounds just fine either way

pardon the scuffed up speaker, it used to sit in my old trunk

I built it to fit into the stock subwoofer slot, so it kind of locks in, and doesn't move around while driving.

Yeah, you can use them on any hu, I just used a Scosche line out converter from Wal-mart, you just connect the inputs of the converter directly to the wires coming out of the hu that go to the speaker, either pick just one of the rear speakers or both if you have a stereo converter.

I have the 08 limited and have the Infinity usb in my rear. I juggled the idea of gutting that sub out of the inclosure and putting a better 8" like a Kicker or maybe JBl. has anyone by chance opened that thing up? or maybe i just need to be the guinea pig

clacker people have swapped it out but let me offer some advice... if your going ot replace it... do it right... get a custom mold of the peice in the rear... the the whole a bit bigger install a sub grill on it and add a 10 back there... and if you got any money left over get a JL

It looks like the enclosure was made by OBS. It is an especialized enclosure shop located in Caracas - Venezuela (a little far of you :goink:
