More info on my Transmission saga. I called several online sources trying to locate a TCM and one actually argued with my that my jeep did not have a TCM and that it had a combined PCM/TCM. I gave him the part number off the TCM and made him look it up and they did not have it, no one did. I broke down and called several local dealers and they all can get one from the parts house for $360 but want to charge me $185 to diagnose the problem and reprogram the TCM. My question is do you really need to run a quick learn on the TCM or will it learn on it own over time? Has anyone else had to replace one? Or does anyone have a known good one for sale? I don't care what the programing level is in the unit, post F37 would be fine as long as I can get the jeep running normal again.

Thanks,

Chris L

The dealer will flash the engine controller for $85, they should do the same or better for the TCM. Have them by-pass the diagnostics, we already know the TCM code is scrambled. Worst case, the TCM is toast and the flash does not take. Going straight for a junk yard unit might be cheaper in the long run if the TCM is failed. There have been a couple recent accidents listed on the forum, they might have parts for sale or know who has the wrecked vehicle. Stuck in 3rd is not fun at all!

Well I just got my jeep back from the stealership today with a new TCM in it. It is running like normal but my wallet is $600 lighter.
