VMKJCRD, Did you get this resolved? |

Do you have an EVIC? Does it display odd outdoor temperatures? This might happen if the engine thinks it's 110° outside. Could be a bad ambient temperature sensor. You will want a properly functioning electric fan come summer. Mine was disconnected by a less than intelligent dealership while repairing a brake line (the passenger front brake line goes round by way of the bumper!). The result was no cold air using air conditioning at less than highway speeds. |

Well some how it fixed itself... pretty strange. I disconnected the battery for an hour again and unplugged the ECU just for the hell of it and when I plugged every thing back and connected the battery it was back to normal. I also checked to see if the AC was blowing cold air. Every thing is fine now. ![]() |

Still could be an ambient temperature sensor. I replaced one on the wife's Pontiac once. It was reading the outside temperature as too high so the automatic temperature control was freezing her out. I replaced the sensor only to find out that the vehicle was attempting to compensate for a sensor it knew was wacked. Now the outside temperature was too cold and it dutifully pumped out heat when it was 80° out. Disconnecting the battery for half an hour set it back to the mid range. If it comes back in a few weeks, consider replacing it. |

Is the electric fan supposed to operate without the use of the air conditioner? Because mine has NEVER come on without the ac on. |

My understanding is the electric fan will come on, if the engine fan can't provide enough air, as in hill climbing with a tow, or things like that. It will come on with the a/c in stop and go situations, I don't know if it turns off at highway speeds though. When I've drove mine in the summer heat it was on with the a/c, and after stopping and turning the a/c off, and letting it cool down, it would cycle. ![]() |
