Hi all,

My best friends KJ is sick, leaking diesel everywhere.

I had a look at it and the fuel is dripping out of 2 injectors. Not the return line, but out of the body of the injectors somehow. He took it to a Bosch service station, and they say they cannot fix them anymore and he needs to have 4 new ones fitted....they want $2750 Image

I checked the parts number,(BOSCH 0445110059) and it seems the 05+ 2.8 has the same injector as the 2.5 so...if anyone has 4 injectors for sale for less then $550 a piece..... please LMK!

Geordi, your new engine by any chance came with injectors fitted? You still have the old ones?

Holy moly....... the cost of new injectors is about 75% of the cost of a new engine. I hope that my Liberty is spared from ever having to go through this headache.

Well, I wouldn't hold my breath. This is the third one of our KJ crew that has injector problems.

One of them is an '06 Renegade...already has 2 injectors changed.

Can someone shed some light as to what happens to these injectors that makes them malfunction and what can we do to extend their life?

The early injectors (from KJ 2002-2004) are completely different than those starting from the 2005+MY. Generally the injector bodies don't crack like that unless they have been subjected to extremely high rail pressures, either by poor governing (min/max components most likely if they're high mileage/hours of run time), or if someone had added an external tuning box or a chip tune that otherwise raised the rail pressure. The early injectors are only rated to 1350bar and shouldn't be used above that.

I do have the injectors, as a matter of fact, and they are in good condition. Mopar Parts lists them for $575 each.

These are the injectors from my original engine, which did NOT receive any head damage (amazingly) when the piston came apart. just about 70k miles on the engine when it happened, and I had been running B100 or a blend once in a blue moon (couldn't get it that often) to keep everything smooth and happy. I never smelled or saw diesel anywhere on the engine, and I had a popped line on my VW, so I KNOW how smelly that can be. These should be perfect for you, and 2005 model year.

Hows $400 each, shipped sound?

Judging from Specialist Diesel Injection Services (AKA Maxum1750) eBay feedback, I would be hesitant to have them do the work:

Despite their nice web page, they seem to be mainly a Renault accessories peddler.

Here's a Bosch injector repair shop in Madrid:

Barcelona must have some authorized Bosch repair shops.

Hi Jimmy! Yeah that would be great, maybe you can get a hold of them...let's see if they have reconditioned injectors for the CRD!

Thanks for the help all! :D

LMK if that doesn't work out, I should have put an OBO in my post from before. I'm certainly willing to consider fair offers Tony. It sounds like you might get a good deal on a shop rebuild tho. Based on the Bosch shop rebuild of my Jetta TDI's injection pump... It could make the CRD run like brand new again.

Hi Tony waiting for a call back from the injector guy, the boss wasn't in but should be ringing me this afternoon ,the person on phone said they do second hand ones and refurbished ones.

update :just spoke to another local firm and they had none in stock but said if they are repairable it would be £104 + vat each to have refurbed.(but you would have to send yours and have them done).

Not to hijack Tony's thread, but I had my Hot Tuned rail was up to 179200 kPa. I know that Bar numbers are much higher then that, but is that pressure on an 06 CRD good or bad?

Tony, good luck getting the injectors, looks like the Jeep community is right there for a fellow Jeeper.

179200 kilopascal = 1792 bar

1792 bar =
25990.7626012535 pounds per square inch

That seems like it is in the ball park for normal... Aren't these things supposed to run up to 26k normally?

Don't know the correct pressure range, but 179,200 kPa = 1,792 Bar or 25,990.7 psi per the handy Google converter.
