Things to look at:
Boost hoses leading to/ from the intercooler. If they are oil-soaked, that is not a bad thing necessarily but you will need to budget for some replacements in the near future.
If they will let you, pull and check the MAP sensor. That will give you an idea of whether or not the previous owner knew how to defeat the main causes of frustration in this engine. Link here:
