I ordered a centrifuge to put on my CRD as a bypass filter $129 + SH.
He uses a centrifuge designed for a Diesel Engine minus the mounting hardware and sells it by its self or in a biodiesel/WVO filtration kit.
Most of the centrifuge units I have checked out have been outrageous $500-$700 and come with hardware kits to fit other engines, not our CRDs.
To prevent from starving the engine for oil there is a valve inside the centrifuge that sends all the oil to the engine until the relief valve in the supply pump starts to dump the excess into the sump. Then the centrifuge starts to do its job and remove the fine particles of grit that are between 0.5 microns and 10 microns not caught by the engine oil filter. A friend of mine with a Dodge Cummins has kicked up oil change intervals to 15,000 miles.
I will design and build the hardware to mount mine, I plan to keep it simple. Since I travel a lot for my job, I do not have time at home to produce hardware kits myself, but I would like to have a little marketing feed back on the following two options:
1) Would like to have a drawing for the centrifuge mounting bracket (oil drain is part of the bracket) and a list of components (like hoses and fittings).
2) Have a complete hardware kit that has what is needed to bolt on the centrifuge.
We have members who fab parts, do a great job, and could produce the mounting bracket should we have enough interest.
For now Pa Biodiesel Supply, can sell their centrifuges direct so we can keep the costs down. If you have to have chrome instead of paint, I am sure you can find someone who can do it for you.
Comments on what type of fittings like Brass or Stainless Steel would be appreciated, I have not determined if steel or aluminum would be best for the mounting bracket, pickup truck kit makers use both.
