While passing a car on the interstate, it started running very bad after downshifting into passing gear. Had to pull off the road and shut engine off. After waiting a minute it restarted and is running fine. I have not tried to duplicate that situation yet.
I remember a couple of years ago it stumbled a little after accelerating up an on ramp, but ran fine after about a quarter of a mile down the road. I checked the filter head yesterday for air after the jeep had been sitting for a day and found a lot.
Fuel filter is about 1500 miles old, and the filter head is the old type. No evidence of fuel leaking or overheating at the fuel heater connection. I,m the guy who had the post Stumbling After Shopping, which the jeep never did again after the post.
So I am going to order the New and Improved Filter Head today.
Should I spend another $200 on a Kennedy Lift Pump?

I'd get the RACOR fuel filter head; it fits perfectly. I feel it is superior to the the improved fuel filter head but that's your call.

Regardless, a lift pump is something I feel is essential for our vehicles. I chose a Kennedy Lift Pump for my Liberty because I didn't want to drop the tank and mess with new wiring harnesses.
