Ok, seems that both GDE and INMOTION offer Jeep CRD tuning modules. Performance is close between the two (claimed, anyway)

It seems that a lot of you prefer to use the GDE over the INMOTION.

Can anyone tell me from experience what GDE does better than the Inmotion? For far, my wallet is really attracted to the price tag of the Inmotion over the GDE, due to the $200 difference. But I need to make the best choice possible. Thank you.

GDE is a more total solution and gives a better all around driving experience. Like it should have been from the beginning. They also work around the weak point of the original torque converter and have a upgrade if you should get the new replacement torque converter. One tuner of VW's I talked to has a CRD tune but does not market it because of the TC issue :roll: Want better fuel mileage? GDE, mine increased 3 to 5 mpg depending on conditions.
Save your money for the GDE :BANANA:
You'll also not need to get a SEGR for off roading so that makes the GDE a better value :POPCORN:

Neither is a "module" they both reprogram the ECM :mrgreen:

With Inmotion you still need to further modify the vehicle to deal with the EGR issue. So, if you figure on getting an SEGR, add $250 to the cost of the Inmotion. Kinda levels the playing field.

*For the record, Inmotion does claim to reduce EGR "For Off Road Use Only", but as I understand it they basically apply the European tune to that element, so you still have EGR actuation, albeit less than stock.

Here's my understanding of what I'veread regarding the difference between Inmotion and GDE.
If have or are going to get SEGR then use Inmotion.
If don't have, or not going to get use GDE.
Is that the bottom line?
I have the SEGR so I should use Inmotion. Yes?

Thank you gents. I was working to the premise that the GDE was a better product, all things considered, but needed factual verification as to specifically why. Your input is very appreciated.

I run Inmotion and SEGR and am pleased.

Just remember though, if you ever plan on getting the upgraded turbo kit, you might as well go with the GDE tune now as you get a discount on the kit if you are already a customer. It will cost you more going from Immotion to the turbo kit from GDE.

I'm calling BS.

Most CRD's get 21-28 mpg. You're claiming a 20% increase? :roll:

Snake oil.

I don't know that Joe's mileage is BS. All I can say - the first 1K miles driving my 05 back from NH , ran an average of 25 to 26 mpg. Stopped and had the GDE tune dropped in before heading on the final 800 miles back to ND. First tank after tune ran 33 mpg - second tank was 30. Same speeds.

Will admit that even I was surprised by the result, but no snake oil.

I have an IM stage two and I'm going GDE hot because I want the extra refinement they have produced. I'll also take any extra MPG I can get.

Another factor to add is whether or not you have the stock torque converter. GDE's ECO-Tune does a better job of managing the torque in lockup conditions to maximize the longevity of the stock tc. Some Inmotion customers experience tc shudder even with an upgraded torque converter.

So, I would add "torque converter" to the list of considerations between tunes.

I'll not bother trying to justify my statement to you but stand by it 100% As far as "Most crd's getting 21-28" That's really BS :-)r

I used to get 27 highway in the summer with the original badyear tires. I got a little over 24 last weekend on a road trip with winter fuel and the Grabbers.

How about running average from tank 1, mile 1 :?: Coming home from GDE last June I got 28.499 and my previous high was 24.7 mpg. But overall is 20.1 :shock: I still have the OEM tires.

I once got 70 and 72 on a Jetta TDI but my running average for over 100k was only 49.6 :seuss:

I was going to do the SEGR, but even having knowledge in wiring etc, I really did not want to cut into my harness. I got lucky though, and found a SEGR last summer. Less then a week after I got it, I heard about the GDE tune for more money then the SEGR. I had that SEGR sold within a week and the GDE tune in my Jeep. No cutting and splicing of wires, real simple, a couple of bolts, unplug it, and ship it in. I do not know the experience of the OP when it comes to vehicle repairs and mods, but the GDE is the total solution, and the easiest way to go about getting rid of the EGR, and modding your vehicle to a smooth running machine with all parameters improved, plus the bonus of extra torque and HP. I would love to compare an Inmotion CRD to a GDE CRD.

flman,

Check my dyno test posts comparing IM SII with GDE. (I replaced IM SII with GDE HOT.)

Not to mention, does Inmotion do all of this?

# Changed Rail Pressure

* Better Fuel delivery
* Increased power

# Changed Boost Pressure

* Increased performance
* Less visible smoke
* Reduces fuel consumption

# Improved EGR system

* MAXIMIZES fuel economy
* MINIMIZES EGR hardware failures

# Modified Main Timing in normal driving conditions

* MAXIMIZES fuel economy

# Change pilot injections

* Maintain low engine noise

# Governing systems

* Enhance driveline stability
* Reduce vibration
* Better throttle tip-in response

# Eliminated brake switch torque Limitation due to customer complaints

* Can now press brake and throttle at the same time with no torque cut
* Effective for off-road

# Linearized fuel gauge to have each quarter tank approximately equal to 5 gallons
# Adjusted EVIC fuel consumption calculation to be more accurate
# Lowered viscous heater shut-off threshold to increase fuel economy in winter driving, while still maintaining a quick warm-up for cabin heat
# Provides a linear throttle progression and minimizes turbo lag
# Electric fan will turn on when transmission fluid temps increase beyond normal operating temps, this helps to keep trans temps in check in all driving conditions and especially during towing
# Maintains latest production part number so dealers will not arbitrarily change calibration during routine service
