Post subject:  Another Exhaust (muffler) question......

I will be changing my TC and getting the GDE hot tune.....I want to change out the muffler to remove the restriction in the flow.......I did some searching here and the only actual part number that came up was the Magnilfow 12226.......Is this just a simple swap at the muffler shop for both the Magnaflow and the Flowmaster? Does anything have to be modified at all? Is this the way to go or is the Flowmaster ( couldn't find a part number ) the one to go with?....I'd like to get this done before the other work....Thanks in advance for your help....HJ

You could have them swap out the flange that holds the cat back section on to the cat section. There is a bottleneck there.

Webmaster Darby has removed his muffler completly as have several others and claim only a slight increase in sound. The Turbo and cat seem to quiet the engine :seuss:

Mine goes from post cat to a new 2.5" flange, then a section of 2.5" pipe bent along the normal path of the muffler and welded back into the normal 2.5" pipe post-muffler. Definite responsiveness, power, and economy increase with only slight exhaust volume increase at low speed. At highway speed it's unnoticeable.

I still have the stock muffler. I would like to maybe change it out but I can not put a straight pipe in its place cus my states vehicle inspection code requires every road going vehicle to have a muffler of some type. so I have to have one or it won't pass. what are the best replacement options. I looked at auto zone to see if they had any flowmaster or something and they didn't list any part#
