2500 miles of extended powertrain warranty for $150???

My newly acquired CRD has about 67,500 miles on the clock. Chrysler want $150 to transfer the remaining 2500 miles to their 7/70 extended power train warranty

It sounds like cheap insurance. OTOH, I'm not sure I want them messing around with anything.

Any suggestions?

For 2500 miles sounds like a rip off to me unless having a dealer start hanging on new parts gives you a big thrill. One thing you could do is brake torque the stock torque converter and blow it up and cash in your warranty for a new converter, don't get caught. :ROTFL:

25,000 it might be worth it.

$150 sounds cheap - but 2500 isn't very many miles - not even 1/2 way through an oil change.

if you checked out the Jeep well prior to purchase nothings going to fail in 2500 miles

(and depending on where you bought it - there might be a 30 day or 90 day warranty that would cover it anyway)

I bought a 7/70 gold warranty when I got mine new and it was not cheap. I'm at 31K miles and 10 months out of the 36/36 warranty and have not used it yet. But this weekend I dropped the front skid plate and found the boot on the steering rack saturated with oil. Then looking further the area around the rear main seal was wet also. So FOR ME it might be paying off shortly :SOMBRERO:

But for you with only 2500 miles remaining it's does not look so good. There are two things you need to think about. The first is it will cost you an additional $100 deductable per visit and secondly convincing your dealer there is a problem is often difficult if not impossible :roll:

Ya, I guess I'll pass on their generous offer.

They did print out the latest warranty service for the previous owner dated Jan 13, 2010

09440139 described as 'turbocharger, assembly'

They did replace the CAC hoses. Does anyone know if this part # could be those hoses?

Mine were jerky and the updated mechanism even included new glass. It was under warranty and they billed Chrysler over $700 for it :ALONE:

I have the bug to sell my 2005 CRD with 67,000 sooner rather than later. My thought is that gives the buyers the security of the remaining 70,000 power train warranty. Selling and buying with factory warranty in place gives both seller and buyer an edge.

I have an 05 CRD that I put 56,000 miles on last year. I have had to replace the rear seal twice. This time I am going to do it myself and see if it lasts longer. The last one the dealer (yes the dealer) put in only last 12,500. 500 miles over their warranty. Go figure.
