Hello, I have only one electronic key for my 2006 CRD. I had a regular key made and it will start motor but shuts down after about 30 seconds . Does anyone know how to disable this? Thanks in advance. |

If you have two keys that will start and run the jeep you can program a third yourelf. The remote does not need to be working. But if you only have one working key you must take it to a dealer or possibly a well equiped lock shop and have the jeep programmed to recognize the chip in the new key I do not think the security thing can be turned off and for good reason This is a very good reason for everyone to get a third key before the loose one. It does not have to be with remote and that means it can get wet without hurting it

Yep, the security system requires a chipped key and you need two of them to program a third key. Costs $100+ from the deal;er. Did that as I only got one key with my CRD. Then ordered two keys (one w/remote) off the internet and programed those. The one without a remote may set off an alarm but will start & run the Liberty if programmed. One 'cheap' thing I thought about doing was duct taping my one key under the dash and just using a metal key. But then there is no remote lock and I just gave up & paid the dealer for a key. |

the key must be a chip equipped key and programed to the Jeep to start it. I have a cheap non-chipped key I got from the dealer for $5 hidden under mine in a magnet box in case of accidental lock out. (locked key inside) I have never had to use it so far but I tested it out. it will open the door but the alarm will sound, it fits the ignition but will not start the engine at all. |

I bought a "chipped" non remote on e-bay for about $20. I had a local lock shop cut the new key then programmed the jeep to recognize it myself since I have 2 good keys. I just tried locking the jeep with the remote then unlock it using my chipped key and the alarm didn't go off The chipped key says "Chrysler" on it so I think it can be gotten at the dealer too |

Is there a way through the EVIC or something to keep the alarm from sounding with a chipped key? I want to get a third key and I am not excited about paying $80 to $130 for a remote key when I can get a chipped one for $15-$20. I know that when I have an old guy moment and try to unlock my CRD with the key instead of the remote though I get the sh*t scared out of me when the alarm goes off. |

If I understand correctly you have 2 totally working keys right? If so you can get the $15-20 regular chipped key (no remote, just a chipped key) . Then have it cut by a locksmith. Next with your 2 legitimate keys program it yourself using the instructions in the owner's manual. It takes under 5 mineuts in your driveway and it will work and act just like your regular remote keys Joe |

That is what I would like to do. I am guessing there is but that it takes the dealer to do it through the BCM. |

Dave I don't have an EVIC but but when locked with a key with a remote then unlocked with the plain chipped key I don't get a beep. The only beep I get is when I use the remote to lock it. Have you read the manual, as I recall there was some things an EVIC can do |

OK, read the manual and it basically says that if you lock with a key you can unlock with the key. If you lock with the remote you need to unlock with the remote or listen to the security alarm sound. |
