http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/ctd/1660833959.html "2005 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4 - 4WD CRD - 1 One Owner I'm selling my car because I want to build a new ride. I have had it a little while and just need a change. Interior is nice with power everything. This thing has more buttons than the Starship Enterprise. This vehicle has been well maintained since the day i bought it. I have flushed all the fluids and changed all the filters every year. his car has a motor which believe it or not is more than enough power for this vehicle. You would be hard pressed to find another car in better condition. •Location: Orange Co •it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests Posting ID: 1660833959" I emailed the poster to ask him/her if the price was correct and if I could come see the vehicle, below is the email response I received. Re: 05 Jeep 4WD CRD - 1 One Owner Liberty - $2800 (Orange Co) Hi, i'm Tamara Davila. I'll start by saying that i'm a chemist, 29 yrs old, no children and was married for 2 years when my husband told me he wanted a divorce. We got together and lived with each other for 1 year overseas when we arrived to live in Pennsylvania. He told me that he promised himself that he would never lay his hands on his wife and now that he has he cannot be married to me. Of course I'm devastated, I thought WE WERE HAPPY...WE NEED COUNSELING NOT A DIVORCE!!! Now, all i want is to get rid of many things that were his and belong to me now. I want to sell my car as soon as possible, it connects me many memories of this car. In fact, i don't have any drive license. The final price for the car is $2,810, I’m pretty sure it is a reasonable price and i want to let you know that he didn't drive it to much and when he did, he kept it clean and never had any accidents with it. The engine it is running in perfect condition, the exterior it has no scratches or any flaws of any kind. I'm fairly confident that it will be very hard to find any car that it is as nice as this one for cheaper. Anyway, here are some details about the car so you can make an idea about it. Year: 2005 Mileage: 123,993 miles MPG: 35 / 39 VIN: 1J4GL58515W636203 Exterior color: White Transmission: Automatic I live in Orlando, FL and here is the car too. The price $2,810 it is the total price including title transfer. I have worked a lot with eBay so I’m going to sell my car through eBay. It's the only thing that i can put my trust into it, 100%. I'm very busy with my divorce process that is why i will be out of town for couple of days, taking care of it, so i can't meet you in person. I know that the best deal it is to meet you in person, but believe me, i don't have time to meet every potential buyer during this divorce process, it is very important for me to win it. Also, i can't trust anybody in this moment to give my phone number, i don't want somebody to take advantage of being a weakness, just because I'm in the middle of divorce process. According with the eBay you have 5 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not. Let me explain you how it works, if you are not popular with this process. First of all I will be needing the following details from you: your Full Name, your Address and your Phone Number . After I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to eBay. They will process your info and will send both of us an invoice. The invoice will come to you with the details on how to make a refundable payment. As soon as you send the money and fax the payment information to eBay, i will receive an email with the payment confirmation in order to ship you the car. You will receive the car in 3-4 working days and you will have 5 days to test, verify and do whatever you need to the car. As you can see, you will receive the car BEFORE any money is released to me. About the shipping fee, it is included into the final price, $2,810, including also the title transfer. If, for some reason, you disagree with the car (I assure you that is NOT going to happen since my car is in IMMACULATE condition inside and out) it will be shipped back to me on MY EXPENSE and eBay will send your money back. You will receive the title of the car with the car, with your name on it. All you need to do is to sign for it. I hope things are clear for you of the process it is working and i'm waiting for your email. I have attached some more pics with the car down to this email. http://img404.imageshack.us/slideshow/w ... 391164.jpg http://img404.imageshack.us/slideshow/w ... 391164.jpg Have a blessed day! Tamara Davila." I'd like to get some pointers from your infinite wisdom as to how best respond to this low life? |

Helloooo Nigerian scammer. First clues: Bad grammar where there shouldn't be. "sell my car as soon as possible, it connects me many memories of this car. In fact, i don't have any drive license." WTF? "Now, all i want is to get rid of many things that were his and belong to me now." "I'm very busy with my divorce process " Yea, uhm... If the divorce isn't complete, the stuff aint yours yet scammer, IF you are even female, and IF you are even in Florida. (Seriously doubtful) "Let me explain you how it works, if you are not popular with this process. " This is typical for the Nigerian scammers - They think they speak English, but have not the slightest clue about word usage. Telling you some random crap about their supposed life, in great detail... Like that makes them more legitimate? Hardly - it proves the lie to their scams and opens them up to more scrutiny of their use of grammar b/c of the extra words. SCAM. Lastly, not only the "I can't meet you in person but the [whatever it is] will be shipped to you for your inspection and it is fully refundable" is all crap. Should you not receive anything (Big shock, you won't) then asking for a refund will get you..... A fake cashiers check. Which means your money that went to "Ebay" (which does NOT DO ESCROW EVER like this) is completely gone. Ebay does not need your information, but lo and behold, should you send it to this person (rather than directly to Ebay anyway) they will soon announce that "Oh, ebay doesnt do that, I must have been wrong (yet I implied that I trusted them b/c I had done this before with them) so here is XYZ Escrow service that you can popular your trust at, and they will do the transaction safe at us." RUN FROM THIS. DO NOT REPLY AT ALL |

Even before I saw the last posting with the ebay link... I knew that those pics were stolen from somewhere else. Looking at the background is the easiest way to localize the images. First - I've lived in Fl for most of my life. NOBODY builds out of real brick in Florida. Its the wrong kind of material for Florida, both b/c the clay isn't available (and any that is trucked in tends to be more yellow) and too expensive versus simple concrete. Second - Concrete driveway? Nice, I've got one too... But they don't groove them, and the concrete is the wrong color. The car isn't wet, so it hasn't rained, the concrete doesn't have enough limestone in it to whiten it up. Florida cement is brilliant white, not gray. Third - The foliage and trees. Pine forest... Ok, those are in Florida too, but some of those trees just look wrong for Florida. I've seen them all over the place in South Carolina and Virginia however... Which is the next climate zone up. Finally - The architecture of the houses. This one is harder to place, but I haven't seen places like that in Florida. The older developments are more ranch style, the newer ones are taller McMansions. Those.... Seen in SC again, in the new developments just completing near Beaufort. The Census has a program they use, that would serve anyone shopping online very well: Trust then Verify. |

Wow you are all totally on to that. To me it is unbelievable that folks try this stuff. Then that people would fall for it. I for one think the price is way way too low to be real. then when that trash of an email came back, on god its like they know you will think its a scam but they are pleadding for you to fall for it. I hope the OP flagged that one for removal from Craigslist. |

I'm not convinced that Craigslist's "flagging" system is any more effective than Ebay's "protections" for the buyers or sellers. Caveat Emptor, scammers are everywhere. For this listing on Craigslist... Quod Erat Demonstratum. ![]() |

Oh, even better: This was posted in the "ORANGE COUNTY" Craigslist... Yes, there is an Orange County on both sides of the USA... But that Craigslist section is for the OTHER ONE. California. That just proves even further that this retard is NOT located anywhere near the USA. Orlando isn't known as Orange County by really anyone outside of the immediate area. How they managed to screw that one up so royally... I won't know. |

Now, now boys don't be so hard on these folks. It's hard to pick up on the culture of another country and get all the idiocyncratic nuances on the first try, I think they are showing the 'ol entrepreneur spirit. Ya' gotta make a few casts if you want to get a bite....... ![]() |

true you do have to make a few casts to get a bite. Craigslist flagging system works well enough at times. i traded off a .380 pistol at a dealer for a 9mm and was left with boxes of shells i could not use. Craigslist rules say no firearms nothing about anything else related to them. ![]() |
