Post subject:  TC recall/ upgrade, part # question

I know this topic has been discussed ad nauseum but, humor me please. My 05 CRD has been basically a joy to own since new with none of the typical issues discussed on this forum. That is untill somewhere around December when I started to notice an irregular rattle comming from what seemed to be the back of the engine compartment- mostly noticable in the car at idle whether in gear, park or, neutral. Dealer says no problems, "diesels sound that way". Hmmm, I'm thinking the TC is about to go down the tubes so, I'm going for the F-37 upgrade just to cover my butt. The new TC # that will be installed is 68037142AA (the 5th superceed # since factory original). So, does anyone know, is this the so called "Euro" model? The dealer parts man was not able to tell from his screen.
I plan to do the GDE eco mod to correct the engine neutering but, is there a way to return the shift points to their original? The jeep will become our tow/ vacation/ seasonal delivery vehicle in about a year so, I'm planning to keep it untill it for a long time or untill parts availability becomes a problem.
Thanks in advance for all of your sage knowledge :D

Craig,

You will be getting the euro TC. From what Ive heard in the forum it was first available in fall of 2009 but i really cant tell you the Part # on that. I wouldn't let them F-37 your TCM because once its done you can never go back to your original shift points. Not even GDE has been able to crack it. There have been people here that paid some good money for a TCM that hasn't been F-37. If you want to know more about it just do a search, lots of threads to read about it and they aren't positive.

My Jeep was a Chrysler lease vehicle, and had all service and TSBs done as far as I can tell, including a TC replacement under warranty in 2007. Yet somehow it escaped the F37. How this can be...I have no idea. I suppose God knew I would someday own this Jeep and spared me.

My new "Euro" TC is due to arrive Thursday (I'm sure glad I didn't pay extra for "2nd Day" shipping). I'm nervous...but I hope that it cures the problems.

Good luck with yours.

If you take it to the dealer to get the TC installed they will give you the F37 free of charge
