Post subject:  Rubbing sound in the front of the motor

I had my idle pulley replaced at christams. Since then, I have had this rubbing sound coming from the same area. It had started out as a sound that would happen one day then go away. However, now the sound has become a constant when I start the engine. I had taken it into the dealership twice since the sound had started. The fisrt time they could not hear anything. Second time they heard the sound then sprayed material on the belt, claiming to eliminate the sound. This sound is still happening. The belt is new, replaced by dealership when I bought the vehicle last Oct. Could it be a pulley needs to be greased? I thought pulleys were sealed units?

Peace. :dizzy:

The alternator decoupler is usually the culprit.

On several occasions dealer was not able to discover the problem with the decoupler unless the serpentine belt was removed and the alternator decoupler was tested seperately.

If you haven't already replaced the alternator decoupler, then my money is on the decoupler.
