So I went off this weekend on a little 400 mile jaunt. On the way home the (dishonest) trip computer was reading a healthy 35 mpg at 75 mph. So just to get a good read on what the fuel economy really was, I topped off.

I expected the distance to empty to read in the 700 miles range. Instead it said 9. Now it appears to be a random number generator between 11 and 49.

Has this happened to anyone else?

BTW the measured fuel economy was only 25 mpg. Probably had something to do with the 35 mph headwind, rain, sleet, and snow on the way up. Oh well, I was hoping for my first 30 mpg tank.

Still waiting for my first 30 mpg tank, too. Best I've ever gotten is 29.5.

Ever since getting the GDE tune for my Jeep, my EVIC has periodically done this. After a day or so, it goes back to normal. I understand that GDE has now updated the tune to address this and make the EVIC more accurate. I guess since I don't pay attention to it for mpg efficiency, I've not thought much about it.

Whenever I get over 30mpg, the EVIC does this... When I got 35, it read something like 120 miles until empty! Best I can figure is that 700 is the magic number that the miles to empty calculator refuses to surpass, instead simply circling back to zero and starting over again. Drive it around for a little while and it'll work itself out.

Yep, mine started doing it after GDE. I haven't sent it in for any updates or anything.

I have the latest flash, and it keeps the mileage in the mid 20s, and I can get as high as 29 to 30 on the open road. So it seems to be more reliable in that I am not getting imaginary high mileage.

Now it's stuck on 621 miles to empty.

Like I said, I think it cycles around. That's what makes the most sense to me... right now, my full tank reads 16 miles to empty. In 15-20 miles, it will read 600+.
