Seriously.... who makes an aftermarket air intake for the CRD? What are you guys doing for that? I see some guys doing a V6 airbox upgrade or something, but I'm wondering if one of the major aftermarket players has a solution (AFE, AEM, K&N, etc.) |

Steer clear of K&N they let dirt pass. Hold one up to the light and you can see the pin holes through the gauze they use. K&N is great for racers who race on dirt tracks and rebuild their engines often. I hear of one guy that drilled holes in the bottom half of his air box to increase flow (don't do the top it will suck in dirt). Others have added snorkel kits. |

Yeah, definitely stay away from K&N. Probably don't need anything with this truck. There is a lot of research is the truck world that intakes are basically a waste of money unless your at really high hp. I am using a AFE filter in my 06 Dodge now with a couple of UOAs that are good. I also used the AMSoil EaA filter in the libby and UOA compared to stock was no different. |

Someone did some airflow testing awhile back which showed that there was virtually no restriction in our intake system. The V6 intake box uses the same filter as the stock CRD box, so no improvement there. The V6 intake horn is reported to be a little narower and possibly more restrictive than the OE one. The CRD box was reported by one board member here, to let rain into the intake but I have checked mine in the heavyest rain and found no water on or in the filter. You will be very unlikely to see any real improvement at all with any after market intakes with this rig. Throw an Amsoil EA filter on it and call it done. |

These engines get more than enough air. Put in an Amsoil EAA filter and youre good. |
