Post subject:  Pre F-37 TCM Restoration Flash available now from SunCoast

SirSam loaned his Pre F37 TCM to SunCoast to have Dave the Chrysler TCM Guru at BDChrysler make a copy, crack the copy and make a Pre F-37 TCM Restoration Flash available. The Pre F-37 TCM Restoration Flash will make any compatible TCM work the way the CRD Transmission Control Module worked before Chrysler changed it into what most of us do not like.
All the Pre-F37 Restoration Flash does is put things back they were originally shift the way it was designed.
At this point in time I am not aware of any Performance TCM tunes for CRDs.
BGChrysler sells performance TCM tunes for other Chrysler gassers for ~$350+
SunCoast sells the Stage 2 TCM tunes for Dodge Cummins Trucks for $595.
BGChrysler will do a custom TCM tune for typically $1195+.

To answer any compatibility questions, please read through the posts and check with members who have posted successful chatter free Torque Converter operation with a Pre-F37 TCM tune. I know of members who have use a Pre F37 TCM with InMotion tunes, Rocket Chip Tunes along, and Edge modules that are being used with a SunCoast torque converter. Members with other Tuner boxes and GDE tunes with Pre-F37 TCMs will need to comment on suitability.
If your torque converter, front pump, or transmission is bad, the Pre-F-37 Restoration Flash will not fix it.

To order the Pre-F37 Restoration Flash, please follow the instructions below. To order, I recommend you call SunCoast with your credit card info or make other payment arrangements, box up your TCM and ship it to the address below.

I will offer one other piece of investment advise, don't buy a Pre F-37 TCM for more than $250, with the new Pre F-37 restoration flash, you don't need to.

Ron Wolverton's email to me:
OK, all is set to reflash TCMs, cost is $250.00. Customer needs to place order with me, I collect $250.00, then customer will ship TCM to Dave at B & G Chrysler, Dave will confirm payment and will ship back to customer freight paid. You may post this info if you want to.
thanks.
Ron

There is another option being worked on... I won't say more than that right now, but there is another option to un-fork the F37.

Can you say if it is a hardware or software fix?

I can say that I have been prodding the involved people to let this one out into the wild, as everyone will be VERY happy with the results. I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from working with Suncoast if they want to, just don't feel that Suncoast will be the only game.

I believe it's not a mechanical fix but a revision to the electronic programming of one of the computer modules.

My ECM has a label on it stating that it was flashed with the F37. So I question which Computer module does this modification affect? Is it a TCM or an ECM modification?

Or was the TCM F37'd also?

Correct, both ECM and TCM were flashed during F37. Sounds like Suncoast just reverts your TCM. If you have an inmotion or GDE tune in the ECM I wouldn't worry about that half anymore.

This sounds great... I like many of you tow a little.

It would be great if someone not only pre-f37'd the TCM but also found a way to control the 4th and 5th gear and OD & TC lock up almost like a OD-3rd and OD-4th!?!?

I love pulling up a hill with camping gear and my Bikes in the back and dropping it into 3rd and RPMing the piss out of the engine when really all I needed was 4th...know what I mean :D

Cheers!

I have towed 6,000 lbs. + camping gear with the GDE HOT tune and Euro TC and Non-F37 TCM with zero shudder or problems.

So.. if you have the HOT tune and Euro TC, don't be afraid to go pre-F37. It will work OK.

Bg must have had a change in attitude, I contacted them about 4 months ago with this exact request, and they wouldn't give me the time of day. They were kind of rude as well.

Dave and Ron are friends, friends help friends.
If it is what you want go for it, true there will be other wild shifting that could become available.
In fact I am testing one in my CRD, but I can't disclose any more at this time.

it's just poor taste to have to thread crap like this.

Lately around here it has been the GDE fanboy club, which is a shame. While GDE seems to provide a great product and service it would also be fair to remember that Suncoast was the VERY first to step up and develop commercially available fixes to some of the CRD's issues.

Geordi's not trying to put down Suncoast, he just wants to make sure everyone knows that other options are on their way that may or may not do more than simply change the shift points back to what they were before. Most of us, including myself, have no clue what the other options will entail... but folks should know that a little extra patience might go a long way in the TCM department.

As for the GDE fanboy club... well, the tune speaks for itself. Ford may have developed the Model T, but being first doesn't mean they get my loyalty when better options come around.

I agree, Geordi is not bashing, once you pay you have to pay again for any future options. I have both of my Jeeps Hot Tuned, and they do plenty for me. I wont be getting the TCM flash. I still have stock TCs with my fingers crossed and a couple of tubes of anti shudder. The Jeeps are plenty fast and torquey for my use, they did not have that much torque and power pre F-37, so unless I have the need to pull the tranny they will both be running F-37. I would have to get double the fuel mileage to replace the torque converters.

Something that goes way beyond simply restoring pre-F37 functioning is just around the corner.
