Does anyone off the top of their head know the torque value for the drain nut?
Changing the oil and do not want to exceed specifications.
Thanks.

See discussion at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=59473. Short version be sure to install with the proper washer and just snug it down like you would a normal drain plug, if it leaks a bit after a day or so of driving tighten it a bit more. Shorter version; save yourself the headache and install a Fumoto drain valve (http://lubricationspecialist.com/front/ ... parentid=0) and never worry about torque or stripped threads again.

Thanks Papaindigo,
Went to Australia to get the info. 35-55 whatever those metric N-M, Neutron-Meteor units are. Did what you said too.
Had 2 Fumotos, mechanics did 'em in. Squashed, mashed and turnip fried.
Besides, do you know how much bad oerl them Fumotos hold back with their deep threads???? EeecK!

I'm the fellow that started the thread papaindigo linked. In that thread one guy mentions where he found in the factory service manual a listing for 37 ft lbs and how he thought it was way too tight. Another fellow said he uses 25 ft lbs. I recently did my first oil change since getting the jeep and when I crawled up under it found it had an allen head plug. The good folks here told me it was an 8mm so I got a socket at sears for it. I'd definitely recommend the socket, I don't think most allen wrenches have the strength nor hardening to put enough torque on the plug, I expect you'd strip them out with a regular allen wrench. After I got the plug out I saw there was no copper gasket on it, which was distressing because the last oil change was done at the dealer and it's unbelievable that they'd neglect to put the right washer on it. Anyhow, a trip to the local jeep dealer and I had the right washer. I set my torque wrench to 20 ft. lb. and installed the plug. Strictly going by feel I felt the 20 ft. lb. seemed like plenty so I left it at that, it felt plenty tight especially considering the aluminum pan. The aluminum pan scares me so that's the reason I asked the question on here, not much room for overtightening with aluminum. After doing the oil change I've checked the plug several times and there's no leakage so I can say that 20 ft. lbs. has worked fine. I definitely don't think I'd go over 25 ft. lbs. I normally don't use a torque wrench for oil changes but with the aluminum pan and all the trouble others have had with it on this engine I felt it was prudent to use it. I have the wrench so why not use it?

Anyhow, my recommendation is to get the right 8mm allen socket, use a torque wrench and tighten to 20-25 ft. lb. Make sure you have the right copper washer in place. I'm sure the advice of many to get the fumoto valve is good but as long as you have the right tools, use the right washer, and don't overtighten it I can't see why the factory setup won't work fine forever.

Going on a trip soon, so I changed the fuel, air and oil filters.
Good time to clean the MAP sensor too, I know better but it was dirty, it has been too long.
This MAP cleaning is the one thing I did that really got positive fuel mileage improvement.
Not like that Green Diesel Hot Flash, took at least a year to "ease off on the pedal fella." Good hot power.
I bet it screams with all those new juices flowing through the veins. Air filter was dirty too.

x2 20-25 ft. lb.

If you use a fiber washer on your Fumoto, the washer can split with too much torque.

Hand tight plus c-hair. No need to break out the torque wrench.

20-25 ft lbs. I do my own oil changes. After purchasing the Jeep a month ago, I decided to change the oil. Surprise... no copper gasket. Off to Napa to get the oil, fuel and air filters, and a copper gasket. Funny thing is they didnt have the copper gasket in stock and I had to get the assorted copper gasket package.
Why is it that the previous oil monkeys can't remember to put a friggin washer on??? Guess it comes back to if you want it done right...do it yourself. Nedless to say I now have several of the correct size washers in the toolbox.

I had to buy an 8mm allen socket to do my first change and I put the valve in then so I have never used it again. I could not get mine out with a standard allen wrench key thing... I just could not get a good enough grip on the little bugger to turn the plug out and it was flexing some too.
