Well, I've been running the HOT tune for a week now and, oh my! The overall behavior is just great! Now, some serious work this weekend, with the installation of the Euro TC and hopefully without major problems  I'll post back once all is done and let you guys know how it went... BTW, anyone knows where I could find a link/thread showing how to disconnect the TCM connector? Really unsure about just pulling, I can't seem to find the clips, if any!

Thx!

That stupid center bolt is how you unlock it, and that will back it out while you wiggle the connector from the ends. It unscrews like any other bolt, but does not actually come out of the connector body. It will take some time, just be gentle yet firm with it.

Slide the Turbo Control Trinkets and rubber hose up off the mount (real easy) out of the way to make room for your hand, save your blood donation for the Red Cross, your CRD does not need it.

Well, I "choked"!!!

Trying to do this kind of job all by myself, without previous experience and not trusting to be able to properly reconnect the tranny after the TC swap, and with time running out, I just put everything back together and postponed the project...

Now, I'll search for a knowledgeable mechanic with the proper equipment and a decent rate ($$$) and we'll work it out from there. My confidence dropped quite a bit when I had the tranny stand on my car jack contraption, just felt uneasy when I started thinking about the consequences of a "tilted and dropped" transmission on the garage floor, not mentioning possible harm to my own person  That's one big piece of metal & gears hanging there!!!

Anyway, it's only reported... This swap will occur for sure!

Dyno,

Have you had any issues with the stock torque converter?

Chester

Apart from the humming, not really. But since the Hot tune, now I can actually experience the shudder under certain conditions (pulling or climbing steep inclines). And as I'd like to install my pre-F37 TCM and the Transgo kit, changing the stock TC is a must. There are some local mechanics around where I live, should be able to find a reliable one that will allow me to assist. The idea of trusting an actual transmission shop (ex: Mr. Transmission) is not very enticing. These guys kind of overcharge for the actual work, without the added assurance of a professional attitude toward the work to be done... It's basically "just another job", details might be overlooked that could lead to failure in the long run. I'd rather do it, if something goes wrong, I can blame myself. Shelling out $1000-$1500 for the same result would really piss me off :furious:
